Absolutely! I think this should be mandatory reading for anyone who does not want to die of cancer.
I like that it is so thorough, well researched, and unfortunately relatable.
Even though the book was phenomenal, I would say that it is not the type of book where you have a "favorite" scene.
When he talked about breaking the news to his dad that he had cancer :(
This is a great book. It is emotionally moving without seeking pity; it is informative; it is so well written it is almost poetic, and last but not least, It is priceless. The information within the book is so valuable, I'd say it is priceless. Do yourself a favor and read it now before you are battling cancer.
This book can be a life saver to so many, not just cancer patients and survivors. I read it on a friend's recommendation because my Mom was diagnosed with cancer recently. I ordered it for her, as well as for myself, so I could help her on her journey to hopefully a full and complete recovery. And now I think I will order this book for the rest of my family as well because I do believe it may help us all live better and longer lives.
I only wish that chapter numbers in the Audible version were corresponding to those in the paper book. This would be helpful because when discussing the book with family members (some of whom have the paper version), it would be nice to refer to the actual chapter number without having to waste time going back to hear the number of the chapter read by the narrator at the beginning of each chapter, which is almost impossible to find! For example, when the narrator stated the beginning of chapter 12, the audible chapter number said that I was on chapter 14, or vice versa. This has been a problem with Audible books for as long as I remember and I hope Audible can fix it in the near future.
I thought the narrator was very good. Overall I highly recommend this book.
they're both great! I love this book.
i have not yet read one comparable.
an abundance of information
it made me very happy and felt informed
great book for anyone with caner. Gives you a better understanding and helps you feel empowered and with a better understanding the foundations of cancer. he puts it in ways that make it easy to understand.
One of the things I love about this book is the ability of the author to explain complex medical issues in everyday language.
I appreciate all the factual information that is presented throughout the book.
There really isn't a "scene" since this is more of a clinical book. But I will say that the author keep your interest throughout.
This is not a good subject for a film.
information was captivating
nice blend of science and personal elements
enjoyed tone of voice
i like the title already given
At the beginning of the book, David Servan-Schrieber is looking at charts on Cancer survival curves and looking for actions he could take to extend his life expectancy following his diagnosis. What he ends up doing in the process is leaving a treasure trove of actions and lifestyle changes that people should consider that might help them avoid getting cancer. The PDF that comes with the book includes many of his reference charts related to dietary recommendations. The book is very poignant and sincere and leaves the listener with a deep appreciation for gift he has left.
Listening to it while preparing dinner each night with my boyfriend who has stage recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The things discussed where topics I was frightened of bringing up with my boyfriend. it gave lots of ideas to discuss. As a result of listening to this I have changed my partners diet by about 75%.
Never give up.
No there is too much to learn, consider and absorb.
When things seem hopeless this book and the authors observations made me reconsider and gave me things I could do to make myself feel like I was helping.
An excellent mix of theory and science of cancer and practice advice. The part on anti-cancer foods is particularly helpful.
After listening to this audio book, I have learned a lot, and have recommended to many people. I myself don't have cancer, but this book definitely can help to prevent cancer, too. Recently I've learned that he just died 20 years after his brain cancer diagnose, and I couldn't stop tearing up. Thank you for the precious gift you left to everybody!
