"I hope this isn't the end!"

I have loved the entire collection. If you liked the first two, this one is a guarantee. I won't ruin it for you, but this ending is great! Don't think about it, get it! And if you haven't read the first two, stop, go back and start with Artemis Fowl. You just can't start here, and you wouldn't want to. The first two are necessary reads to get the most out of this one, and true delight to read to boot.

    "Hilarious as always"
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book definitely made me laugh, quite a bit. All the Artemis Fowl books are hilarious, and this one is no exception. I know that they are supposed to be kids books, but they quite enjoyable even if you're an adult!
The plots of kind of light weight but the characters really make the story.

"They could have chosen a better narrator."
Would you consider the audio edition of The Eternity Code to be better than the print version?

I have both, and bought both so that my son could listen and read at the same time. The print version and the audio version don't match up (One is British English, the other is American English). If you are using one or the other it probably wouldn't matter. Together for a child, it might be a little confusing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mulch Diggums is my favorite character. He's just so gross it's funny!

What aspect of Nathaniel Parker’s performance would you have changed?

I think that he needed to do 2 major things to improve his performance. 1. He needed a better American accent. 2. I would like to see more difference in each character's voice. I really don't think that Artemis' voice should have been so deep.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was 7 hours long.

    Any additional comments?

It was a fun book. Artemis Fowl never disappoints!

"Fast paced, whimsical, humorous and fun"

I've been listening to the Artemis Fowl Series, one book at a time, in between more "weighty" material. Having just finished Les Miserables, I was definitely ready for some fast paced fun. Artemis Fowl and the Lower Elements always deliver that. Yes, it's children's literature, but it's great to be a kid again sometimes.

"Artemis Runs Foul of Another Criminal Mastermind"

I think is my favorite book in this series thus far. Artemis’ evolution from cold-hearted child genius to caring-but-still cunning child genius has been an amazing adventure to watch. His association with the faeries has been the best thing that could ever happen to him. Through his friendship with Holly, Mulch, Foley and Company, Artemis has been taught the important lesson of caring for others.

This book took those emotions and relationships and used them to quickly draw me in to his most harrowing adventure yet. Butler has a brush with death – yet again – and doesn’t escape so luckily this time. Artemis may have met his match in the cunning and ruthless John Spyro.

And the ending – which I will not give away – left me crestfallen. All of that work and development … it seems so pointless. But, I have hope that Mulch will come through!

"Excellent narrator for a fun book."

I particularly enjoyed Nathaniel Parker's interpretation of this book. The regional accents were especially well done and fun.

    "Fast-paced and witty!"

We were pleasantly surprised by this series! As Harry Potter lovers, it's hard to find anything that measures up, but this was completely original! It's also hard to find stories that are just as entertaining to the adults in the house, as the children. I found myself giggling, and wanting to find out what would happen next!

First of all, the narrator is fabulous! He is nearly as good as Jim Dale, and that is high praise. He does all of these great accents, and gives the characters different voices.

The story is basically faires meet Bourne Identity! Sounds strange, but you actually get so caught up in all of the scenes, that you forget that the characters are centaurs, etc. Since I love imagination, I was delighted, when litte tidbits were thrown in as you went along, that reminded you of the dilemas that these mythical creatures might face. I also love witty humor, and this book has it's share of that!

Character/moral issues: Okay, so Artemis starts out a bad guy, and you really aren't entirely sure who to root for...but for slightly older children, it isn't that big of a deal....and I love how Artemis slowly gets a conscious, as the series goes along.

The drawback to these stories: the language. Okay, so it's not horrible: a damn here and a hell, there...but honestly, I don't know why the author would include this kind of language, in a children's story! Not necessary.:(

The characters are lovable! Butler is awesome! I came away wanting a "Butler"!
    Lots of fun, overall.

What did you love best about The Eternity Code?

Eoin Colfer keeps the ongoing story of the teenage genius and his companions, very fresh. The story is clever, funny and suspenseful. The dialogue never gets stale. Who can get tired of Mulch Diggums? Nathaniel Parker makes this one of the few series we can listen to over and over again.

    "Great to listen to together"

Okay, I'm not a kid, a tween, or even a teen, but I enjoy listening to this books. There are some pretty serious themes in the series--death, crime, loyalty, friendship, etc--and listening with your child gives you a chance to discuss these themes. It's also very entertaining for that time stuck in the car. Artemis learns a lot of things the hard way in this one, but I think it makes him a better person. As always, the narration is spot on. I love Nathaniel Parker almost as much as Jim Dale.
