Love a great book that stays with you long after you've finished it.
Disturbingly many things did not add up in this novel, these were an extreme distraction and disappointment. Example; a mad killer on the loose, police surveillance, yet police do not recognize the killer outside the building they are surveying. Only one example of many, not up to King's usual standards.
I put this book on at night before I went to sleep, and I had about 8 hours left to the book. I wound up loosing a whole night's sleep because it was so interesting I couldn't stop listening! Great book!
This is truly a HORRIFIC story because it could be happening to anyone you know. Again...King is at his best! I remember when I first heard the beginning of this story how mad & upset I was at Norman!!! A story had not made me feel that way in a long time. I have a lot of audio books and Blair Brown was a perfect choice for Rose. I also was pleasantly surprised to hear Norman's character read by a male voice (King himself). That added so much more to the listening experience. My Husband who doesn't read anything that isn't automotive related LOVES this story. We played our cassette tapes so much that they literaly broke apart. (That is how long we have been listening to this story.) I was so thrilled to be able to buy this version for my Epic 4G!!! I highly recommend this audiobook!
Stephen King can write to evoke emotion, there's no doubt about that. My problem with most of his work is that it's so dark and the ending is usually pretty unhappy. That being said, this book comes the closest of anything of his I've read to having a happy ending.
Wow every time I think I'm done with King I get another gem from him. This book hooks you right from the start and is great all the way through. A+
I absolutely LOVE this book! I have this in paperback and have read it numerous times. Usually for me, Stephen King tends to ramble on, but this story of self-empowerment always has me turning page after page after page. A must-read(listen) if you're a Stephen King fan!
I love this book, but the reading of this is what has made me unable to put my ipod down. Blair Brown has such a melodious ad beautiful voice, and of course, we all love when Stephen King reads his own work. It's love!
Artist. Designer. Insatiable consumer of literature.
The narrators were fine...though Stephen King's narration is a bit dry. Does dialogue well, however.
It isn't the quality of the book that ruins the experience. I've read it in novel form and enjoyed it enough. The problem is the musical interludes: they're jarring and totally pull the Reader out of the story. I wish there was a Music Off option.
NO BUT I WILL FROM NOW ON..
IT WOULD BE A BIG MISTAKE IF ANYONE DIDNT LISTEN TO THIS STORY BASED ON NEGATIVE COMMENTS MADE ABOUT THE MUSIC OR SOUND EFFECTS IN THE BACKGROUND.. THEY LAST ONLY MOMENTS AND ARE THERE ONLY WHEN GOING FROM CHAPTER TO CHAPTER..
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO.. AND BLAIR BROWNS NARRATION OF THIS BOOK IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO.. IT MAKES UP FOR KINGS SO SO RENDITION..
I ALMOST DIDNT PURCHASE THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS.THANK GOD I GAVE IT A CHANCE.. AUDIBLE IS THE BEST.. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE BOOK YOU CAN RETURN IT..
AUDIBLE MAKES READING POSSIBLE AND EASY FOR ME...I AM VISUALLY IMPAIRED. I WISH THEY HAD ALL THE BOOKS I WANT I WOULD SNAP THEM UP!
i can't read print any more. if i was able to read print, i would never have finished the book.
only real king fans. it was good until it got weird.
well, i guess it has to be rose. but i really liked norman preformed by king.
it was very good for about 2/3 of the way. then a perfectly good book got very weird and it did not have to be that way. i guess king fans expect some weirdness. i like king but weirdness is not always necessary.
it ruined this book. it was an ok book that could have been great.
i found twords the end i was skipping parts as it got too strange for me. i was disappointed. i am still not sorry i got the book. i just think king went overboard on the strangeness.
