"sent me back to the 70's"
So long and thanks for all the fish :-)
great story, funny, thought provoking,
Remember listening to this as a child. Absolutely brilliant comedy. Britain at its comedic best !
"THHGTTG - The Tertiary Phase"
This was very reasonably priced on Audible. It's the fully-dramatised recording of the first radio series. It's an excellent listen, plus there are some added extras. Recommended!
"Put on your dressing gown and slippers and enjoy"
There’s nothing quite like wrapping up warm in a dressing gown, putting on my favourite slippers and sitting down with a nice hot cup of tea to listen to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I’ve lost count of the number of times I have listened to it over the years, probably more than 42, and it never gets old. Despite being 37 years old, the only thing about it that seems is dated is the expectation of change from a fiver for six pints of bitter. Douglas Adams was a genius.
"An Old Favourite"
The story is clever and funny. The story is such that, while you can listen at a purely easy entertainment level, there is also lots to leave you with a deeper, more thought provoking experience. Of course, you don't have to be a fan of quantum mechanics ... But it helps.
Not particularly but, then again, I was an interested party anyway.
This is a radio drama performance and probably does not, therefore, conform to this question.
Overall, this old favourite is given a new lease of life as a radio drama, re-release. The sound quality is okay and the performances themselves excellent. The book is good but this radio drama brings the characters to life.
"Wonderful Sci fi comedy."
Brings back so many happy memories. The actors really involve you in the story too.
"Classic audio drama"
This book /audio drama is a sci-fi cult classic. I've been a fan since it was originally released many moons ago. I still listen to it and love the subtle and sometimes not so subtle digs at politicians/ bureaucrats/ philosophers and not forgetting telephone sanitizers. Great colourful characters such as Marvin and Zaphod. If you love audio dramas I would rate this as one of the best.
Fabulous from start to finish!! Very funny and well written. Cheered me up and made me laugh.
"Brilliant, but sound quality not so great"
As brilliant as it ever was, however the quality of the sound slightly undermined the work of the radiophonics workshop.
been a hugh fan of The guide since Radiohead released the album OK Computer and I discovered this was a reference to something called The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. So of I went to the local library and all the had was the BBC Radio broadcast on tape. Needless to say I was hooked.! All of that said you wouldn't have believed my excitement when audibles got it and made it the daily deal. Still as brilliant as I remember!
