Tired teacher. That is, REtired teacher.
I found this book very hard to read/listen to. I can't even imagine reading the other 28 books in this series in order to get to this one. To me it was like Monte Python on steroids, but not as funny. It just isn't my kind of humor. Sorry. I am sure many people think it is hysterical and have read the whole series, but I'm not just one of them. I did finish it, continuing to hope there would be some redeeming value, but none ever showed up.
With that said, I thought Stephen Briggs was an above average narrator. I wish he would do something other than this series. I would love to hear him read something else.
One of the best book that have been written since the invention of books. Terry Pratchett was truly a genius with the written word and will be sorely missed in the literary world... If you love fantasy and witty writing this book is the perfect blend of both.
Terry Pratchett has created an intriguingly unpredictable universe! His wit is perfect and unexpected - I enjoyed every minute of it!
Fantastic story with some familiar faces. Longer than many in the series but not plodding so. If you enjoy other books in the series, this is at the top of the list. It also stands alone, perhaps more so than many. The reading is well done with quite a variety of consistent accents. Not all of them wowed me, but they did the job. The recording did justice to the text.
If you want people to review the books, why do you force limitations on them.
I recommend the book, especially to my fellow Postal Service employees. Teeheehee
I've had yet to find a Terry Pratchett book that I like better than "Monstrous Regiment." But this one comes the closest. A wonderful story of a conman who finds purpose. Thoroughly enjoyed all characters. And a top notch voice artist who brings it all to life.
