Simon Prebble is such a great narrator that I really loose the male/female voice differences. His Voices for his characterizations are so consistent that you know how he has patterned all the characters in his brain. Just a joy to listen to.
While I was miffed that it took so long for Patience to get over her "elegant gentleman" misconception, in the end I loved her championship and protective stance of those she loved.
I know Scandal's story is next, but Demon has stated a challenge and I can't wait to listen to the series.
Simon Prebble brings Stephanie Laurens stories to life. Love the Cynsters, Laurens and Prebble is now at the top of my Gotta Have Narrators.
English read by an Englishman
same as above. He's awesome
Of course none of the males of the Bar Cynster are alike and why should they be? In this story, the listener is treated to a clear characterization of Vane Cynster, Devil Cynster's second in command. This story takes you on a wonderful journey wrapped in a hint of mystery, passion, and love. Vane is a typical Cynster male, while his female counterpart, Miss Patience Debbington shows you don't have be born a Cynster to make others bend to your will.
From 1 to 10, I will rank it in 8
When Patience was jealous of Vane's cousin and they meet at the fountain
I don't know.
The plot was quite decent, but I found my self laughing at the amount of description and detail for the many sex scenes
Tell us about yourself! Attorney/Rancher - eclectic taste in books in both fiction and non-fiction. Preference for British authors in mysteries, love well written dialogue and hate historical fiction.
Who reads this nonsense? It must be women whose television channels no longer carry the Bachelorette. I wish there was a rating for negative five.
A Rake's Vow is another of Stephanie Laurens amazing Cynster novels. The storyline was not my favorite of the four I have listened to, but who can resist a Cynster.
Patience and Vane. Patience was strong and willful, I like seeing that in a romance novel; no mamby-pamby females for me.
Vane. Simon Prebble is the only one who can do the Bar Cynster voices as far as I am concerned. The deep rumble, the stern, forceful tenor, both very sexy. I think he does the other voice really great also. Being a diehard Dick Hill fan, it is difficult to listen to women perform male voices although there are some who do a fairly good job, however, it is wonderful to know that there is another very strong, sexy male voice to perform romance novels. I will always listen to Simon Prebble.
The relationship between Vane and Patience kept me anxious and aroused (during their lovemaking) and there were a few places I laughed.
WOW !! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, strong romance with intrigue and suspense.
I read so I can write
The humor in these Cynster novels is captivating. These strong willed Cynster men who think they can avoid the marriage trap are amusing. Vane trys to avoid the marriage trap and gets caught in the love trap instead. As usual the story is well developed and the sex scenes are hot. Go Simon. He makes the Cynsters live.
Enjoyed this installment of the Cynster series. Not quite as fond of this female character as I was of Devil's bride. But really do enjoy listening to these. No, they are not challenging as far as how they will end. That's not why I listen. As an escape they are fun, and how the author gets the characters to the end is what's enjoyable. As always, love this narrator.
I love this series and always look forward to the next book. This is my first Stephanie Laurens series and I will read more from this author. Simon Prebble did great with the narration.
