Orwell makes it clear that collectivism always results in some being more equal than others, and that it only brings misery for all. Entertaining and necessary read!
Firstly, the performance was VERY good, however the ending gave me an empty feeling, why the story rating is lower. However, the rest of it was great. Except the back and forth with the windmill destruction, I though it was pretty good.
I had read this book over 30 years ago. I remember liking it. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator and can see myself listening to this story again. It's a great, but sad, portrayal of how society can be taught to believe anything.

Timeless as well as timely. Orwell the novelist for the elite foretold what our socialist society has become. The pigs lie. They conspire while we the lower animals toil. The swine are the over stuffed politicians and their bureaucrat minions. Chapter 10 tells of the false hope of retirement for the masses due to the squandering of resources for the betterment of the pigs. The ruse of healthcare for all becomes the reality of death panels, poisonous drugs, fluoridation, and all manner of tricks to shorten the lives of the lower beasts. We are now all creatures on the Animal Farm.
I will work harder. I have been inspired by Boxer but not in the way that he, that poor, misguided horse, himself was inspired. Animal Farm has inspired me to work harder at making sure to educate all parts of the human populace, in my job as educator, even more equally and vigorously than before so as not to ever have to see such misery wrought upon any student I have taught or by any student I have taught. May no tyrants live.
For some reason I was never required to read this is school, so when I saw it on list of classics, I bought it on Audible. It was a wonderful story of political corruption and societal norms. The narrator was great and his varying voices for the characters kept my interest.
I just loved the story! It was my first time reading/listening to it but I have heard great things about it for years. Animal Farm is ranked pretty high on my list now. I loved the narrator as well...really well acted. It is relevant to this day and age so I recommend listening to it.
