Suspenseful- kept my interest until the middle where it became repetitious in plot and character development. I learned some interesting facts about investigation work, computers and child abuse. The resolution came suddenly, in the last five minutes, and all too neatly tied up in a bow. Still, kept me walking at a great pace when listening on my hikes.
I stayed up all night just to finish this. It was so tantalizing and intriguing. One word of warning; to demo why the detective is so hard boiled - there are heart wrenching references to horrible child abuse.
Thought this book had to much detail because by the time (the last hour of the book)it all came together, I had such high expectations that the ending was just okay.
I usually migrate towards books that have had a good review by previous listeners, but I have to vote against the majority on this one. It was a huge waste of time. The author took a few story lines from today's headlines, threw it together and there's her book. I disliked the topic and the whole book just did not gel.
My first novel by Lisa Gardner. Wow, what a clever plot. For most of the story I thought What the heck is going on with these people? The subject matter is potentially quite ugly but I just had to find out what was going on here. It's all revealed eventually and it's...well I won't spoil it for you. The unusual 3-person narration worked very well.
I love books!
Wow, Excellent! My first Lisa Gardner listten was "Hide" and that was good as well. I blew right through this one. I'm hooked now, I'm a bonafide Lisa Gardner fan. "The Neighbor" kep me guessing throughout as to whodunit.
