You'll be so glad that Harry comes out of retirement for this clever freelance investigation, nailing a bunch of bad guys, despite interference and obstruction from his old cop colleagues and the FBI.
Not my favourite Connelly book but well worth the listen.
The story was good, the narrator though carried the book. I have all of the Harry Bosch books and my collection and Lin is by far the best narrator available.
As always GREAT story, no that's not correct...better. The icing on the cake is a new narrator from the last and looking forward I see he will be doing others.
I am a college professor and professional actor, director and playwright. The peformance of the book is as important to me as the writing.
I am a big Harry Bosch fan and I don't think anyone reads him better than Len Cariou. This story is captivating and really held my attention. I listen to a lot of audio books- A LOT! and some pass from memory almost immediately. But this is one I will hold onto for a long time. There is real pathos in the story and also intrigue. You know a book is good when you are driving down the road and yell, "oh no!" at a dramatic moment in the text. That is what listening to this book was like for me.
I've read a lot of Connelly and Bosch and may expect too much. I quit after a couple of hours. I may have missed the better parts.
I felt the story was read one sentence at a time. Each sentence was terminal. I felt as though I were in a class for translators: here this, translate it, be scored. I tried faster speed but then when characters spoke, it was too fast and swallowed. It wore me out.
Because the reader and I didn't hit it off, I felt Connelly was exhausted, too: just one more page and I can go to bed... I wish the publisher would quit hounding me to finish...

Another suspenseful and fulfilling book by one of my favorite authors!
Harry Bosch is retired, but a case just can't leave him alone, so he pursues the answers. Various departments surprisingly get involved, and there is a surprise ending which is actually fitting. Satisfying as I expect all Connelly books to be!
Have not read the print version.
Don't want to spoil the numerous plot twists!
Mr. Cariou is clearly a FIVE STAR reader / actor!
Yes, very much, but again, not going to spoil it.
I'll probably listen to this one again.
