I understand the whole story is about an urgent timeline, but the book should have had more character development, more romance, more colorful descriptions about the exotic locations, more cultural background described. The basis is laid out for tremendous adventure potential, but the word are mostly desribing the logistics of the journey.
I would definitely see it. The story theme has so much potential, involves so many high adrenalin scenes in exotic locations. I think a movie director would embellish a bit and make a great movie. The book itself hurried through all the possibilities.
I would surely recommend this audiobook because it is a wonderful voyage.
When the Indian lady was saved from sati.
No. This is my first time.
Yes definitely. I transferred it to my iPod and had a go at it in one sitting while I was traveling in a train.
exciting, humorous, adventure
I love going on this journey with the characters.
Jim Dales performance is outstanding. The characters come alive with his narration.
I love when Phileas Fogg and Passepartout saves Mrs. Aouda and bring her on their journey with them.
Our whole family enjoys listening to this story time and time again.
This is an old book with prejudices of a century or so ago; nevertheless it brings that way of life of the upper upper crust to life for us. The book is also an easy way to figure out our grasp of geography!
English is not my native language so even Jules Verne is new for me. Already listened a dozen of great novel books here and this is an juvenile classic. But I feel I just need much, much more Jules Verne to listen to. It's so gratifying it really renews one's mind with inspiration and adventure.
What an engaging and enjoyable listening experience! Started to read the book years ago but abandoned it early on. Listening to it, I was captivated. Jim Dale's perfect narration gives life and personality to the characters written by Verne and I found the entire tale to be delightful. Jules Verne and Jim Dale are a perfect pairing!
I've listened to this book twice in the last two years, first from a library copy and then I purchased it myself because it was so enjoyable. Jim Dale really makes the story come alive.
