"It was OK"
I didn't realize this was a series when I purchased the book on sale (sometimes I'm a little too eager to buy during audible sales) so this was my first introduction to the Travis clan. I liked the story but the characters didn't make sense to me. Here is Jack a total alpha male who is business savvy, interesting, super sexed, and possessive. Then there is Ella who is supposed to Ms. Independent but comes off rather weak and pathetic. His passion didn't match hers. She seemed clueless, and lacked total confidence. Of course she has some likable bits but for the most part I found her kinda blah. I wish her character wasn't so insecure. Their passion would have been more believable. Also, the narrator's voice only weakened this audio.
Still, there are enough enjoyable bits to this book. It is fast paced. The story is good, it just left me wanting for better narration and better character development.
"wish i had more than 5 stars to give"
can't find something negative to say just can't
i have always beein proud of the fact that im really hard to be totally pleaced with a book
i'm a big fan of lisa kleypas, but i was very skeptical that she could do the transition from historical to
contemporaRY ROMANCES AND EVen if she could there was no way they could be as good as her historicals
Big Mistake on my part not only it has all the kleypas magic but also is one of her best
and saying this book was a page turner is the understatement of the century
i finished the book in a little bit more than 24 hours
the story is so entertaining and so romantic i couldn't put it down
now about the hero
jack travis is my new favorite kleypas hero(sorry st vincent but texan millioner kills english lord any day)
my only complain:
It let me wanting so much more from ella and jack

"Narrator Could Be Better"
Jack Travis is the 3rd guy to fall in love with in this series. In many ways he's the best. I sort of wish this series could go on, but I'll probably try other books by the author.
"Narration is poor quality"
This is the first Lisa Kleypas book I've listened to. I enjoyed the story, but the narration was not up to the quality I've come to expect of books listed on Audible. I'd return it if I could, just for that reason.
"Wish I could return this"
I have listened to the first two chapters of this book and won't listen further. The narrator is terrible! And the beginning of the book is nothing like what's described in the summary, other than a truthful description of Austin and Houston. I do not want to read a book about a dysfunctional mother/daughter relationship, I was looking for a little escape-through-romance. I feel like I wasted my monthly credit.
"Love It!"
This is a wonderful story. The narrator and the story kept me enthralled. I highly recommend.
"My Favourite of the series."
Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas (Audio Edition)
Narrated by Emily Durante
The Travises #3
Jack Travis.. gotta love him! He's a sweet guy who's just waiting for the right girl to start a family with and the minute Ella walks into his life you can tell he's found her! While he's a man who believes in equality, he also believe's that there are just some things men should do. He's was always on her side, always there for her to lean on when she needed and I truly loved that about him.
Ella is a caring woman, who at times jumps to conclusions without thinking there could possibly be any other explanation. Which made me shake my head, but in the end she's dependable and level headed enough to know when she needs to rethink her views.
The attraction between these two was felt right from the start and I enjoyed watching it bloom. I think this was my favourite book in the series. Though I really did love Gage too. Tough call! These Travis men make it hard to decide. The ending of this book was perfect. There is one more book in this series.. Joe's story. I will read that when I get my hands on it.
Emily Durante did a great job with the narration. I thought her male voices were well done and she had a nice southern accent. I would listen to her again.
"best book"
loved it!!! l love my romance novels and this by far is one of my favorite. l have it in paperback as well. Great book.
"terrible narration"
A narrator should be able to pronounce basic words correctly. It's almost as though she is reading phonetically and doesn't know English. Her lisp is distracting, not cute.
"I very much enjoyed this book."
I love anything by Lisa Kleypas and this was a solid listen. I think I have enjoyed her historical books a little more than this contemporary series, maybe it takes me farther away from my reality, I'm not sure. However definitely enjoyable, especially if you have listened to the first two in the series (best narrator out of the three books in my opinion. )
