John Wells saves the world yet again. there was never any doubt. but I found some of the plot hard to swallow. on the other hand we can't have the bad guys win, can we?
I like the overall plot idea. story drags in building suspense. I was ready for it to just end so I could start a new book.
I enjoyed the book - interesting plot and characters - but i wasn't riveted - I could pick it up or not.
To me Berenson must be talked about in the same breath as Silva and Flynn. The character John Wells is as good a master spy as Mitch Rapp and Gabriel Allon. I look forward to listening to all of Berenson's works. There isn't a thing wrong with the way Robertson Dean read Berenson's first book but George Guidall just adds something to a book like this. Don''t hesitate at all in buying this book. The lovers of spy books will certainly like this one.
I like and hate how the establishment always seems to work against itself and in spite of it all Wells and his Sixth Sense works it out to foil the plot.
ELLE aka PlantCrone of the Great Pacific Northwest. I enjoy almost every genre-S/F, Action, Biographies and Histories & Romance
I'm now on the 5th book in Berenson's John Wells series and am enjoying it very much, especially since its now being narrated by the Great George Guidall, one of my favorite storytellers.
Berenson has built Wells backstory nicely in the first 4 novels-I like the way he slowly eases Wells early life into the current time, one little bit at a time.
Each story could stand alone with ease. That they are in a series can occasionally make the series become a bit tedious with the same language and verbiage, however Berenson is an effective enough writer so as to not fall into this trap. And, while there are several people who are in all the books I've read so far, still they haven't become predictable nor have I gotten tired of them-which has occurred in other series books I've read.
I really recommend Alex Berenson's novels-especially those narrated by Guidall. If you enjoy current era spy stories these can't be beat.
