The story was just really boring and I couldn't tell if it was because of the boring story or just the kind average performance.
Tell your story more interesting-ly? I don't know. It's just the entire story was so crazy yet somehow really boring. I'm not exactly sure if it's just because everything was so nuts that it all started sounding pretty standard pretty quick or what. Also, she just seems like a very boring person who just doesn't tell her story very interesting-ly.
Also, I had just recently listened to Kevin Smith's book and he's a MASTER of telling a good story so she sounded especially bad in comparison.
Sounds more interested
Didn't listen to the entire book so I don't know.
I think Ms. Fisher is a great writer and I probably would have enjoyed reading her book instead of listening to her. She over acts in my opinion and it was distracting. Again, I love her writing; I just found her voice irritating.
Her story is compelling and funny and a little glimpse into her life.
I would rather read her books instead of listening to her speak her story. She tries too hard to make it funny. She doesn't have to because it is already.
A Swedish native living in southern Sweden comuting to Denmark for work each day. A lot of time in the car/train where Audible is a loyal companion.
That the author read herself - gives a better feeling hearing her own words as intended when writing the book.
A bit flimpsy and fragemented story.
The outbursts is sometimes timed well and quite funny. The down side of it is that you can almost imagen her saying the the exact same words on stage - the book is like a transcript of her show.
Not so many juicy new details.
This was my first audiobook, and it was AMAZING! I wasn't sure about books on tape, so I went with a book written and narrated by a celebrity I was familiar with... ( I love old Hollywood circa. 1950's and Carrie Fisher is a product of old Hollywood so I went with it) Listening to the stories from her priviliaged yet surreal childhood is facinating, and listening to her troubles makes her relatable, while making light of it all with sarcasm. I highly recommend Wishful Drinking... Two Thumbs Up!!
Carrie Fisher's narration
It felt like she was speaking directly to me.
It made me laugh out loud!
Great first listen!
Carrie is truly a survivor in every sense of the word. Her adaptation of the one-woman show by the same name of the book is truly sensational. I have to admit to many a moment of embarrassment as I burst out in laughter while listening to her on the subway. While her story has profoundly sad moments, her overall attitude to life, after everything she's gone through is a message of hope to many. Well done, Carrie! And thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed the work and the story but found it fell flat towards the end. The same emphasis though out the book wears thin at the end.
Enjoyed hearing the author actually read her story which she did an excellent job. Would suggest this book for that reason alone.
It was an incredibly fun listen but given the nature of the events told it is a raunchy where you wouldn't listen with the family in the car. Yet a very well told tale that thoroughly engaging and funny.
Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, this book is a great listen.
Her narration is fantastic and her delivery is wrought with dry humour.
This is not about Star Wars but about a person and how she copes with live
I aodred carrie Fisher's earlier books, but this is sadly a story that would have been better off just left in her diary. She refers to her self-absorption deprecatingly, but it doesn't allay the fact that it is just a self-absorbed monologue.
