Yes, I enjoy the character.
This book seemed to start out slower than others but sped up at the end.
The narrator was fine.
The book inspired me to continue reading the next book in the series
Someone who has never been to Texas
The overall impression that anyone with a southern accent is ignorant and violent
The narrator was fine.
Woman proclaiming Reacher wouldn't murder her white husband for her because she was Hispanic and that made him a racist.
The most disappointing Lee Child book I've ever read.
I LOVE the Jack Reacher books, love them. However this story is boring, flat, and the characters are annoying. The main "victim" Carmen enlists zero sympathy, she comes off as weak and manipulative. Reacher's female protagonist is supposed to be a sharp lawyer but crumbles into a panicky, whiny, indecisive babbling annoyance the second there is any action.
I think so.
Dick sounds like he's an old man that just ran up a hill then sat down to record and audio book - out of breathe. ALL his women end up being whiny (sorry to keep repeating that word, but he delivers flat female characters) to the point you hope they just get taken out. "Reeeeeeeeeeecher, whyyyyyyyyyyyy? We'll get huuuuuuuuuuuurt!" Ugh.
Reacher's deductive reveal is always great.
I hope the next few books are better.
I have always loved to read. As a child my mom actually grounded me from books if I was in trouble. Noone can do that now. Yay!
Of course. I really like Jack. And Dick Hill's interpretation of Jack is spot on. Unfortunately the only female that I liked in this book was the one who was only six! She was more tenacious, stronger, funnier and more likable than any of the others. I really hope the female characters become more than cardboard cutouts of real, vivacious and interesting women. So far they are mostly sex partners who will never be revisited after the novel in which they are featured. And in this book they were even less likable than those others.
The female characters voices were more child-like than that of the child.
I read/listen extensively. This is my third Reacher book. I was able to figure it all out about 2/3 through. Not a good thing. I need more complexity without gimmicks (Child did not employ these, thank goodness).
…this is the perfect way to end your addiction; if you've read two or three Reacher books by the time you get to this one, you'll realize that the plot is virtually the same, only with a damsel in distress who is incredibly difficult to sympathize with. Reacher comes across as an ignorant moron who decides to be a knight in shining armor for a woman he barely knows and is even suspicious of. Don't waste your time.
Old World Traveler
Yes. The audio version is easier on the ears than the eyes. I think I suffer from a new addiction called Audible Dot Com and may need counseling. Echo burning has you going from the very beginning. Dick Hill does a great job.
This story is impossible to figure out. Every time I thought I knew something, I didn't. Reacher is the only fictional character who rides off into the sunset by hitchhiking! This story has some nasty characters who get their just desserts in the deserts or is it deserts in the desserts...who knows? The grit was palpable.
This is a tough one. When I read the book I don't hear Dick Hill in my head? Hill plays the role.
Tag line? Hmmm.... The sound of bones crunching....?
I will wait a month or two and listen to this again.
Elitist naive storyline. Badly researched and horribly inaccurate firearms knowledge. Have read many Lee Child books and enjoy most of them. This book will probably end my relationship with Mr. Childs.
I felt the first 4 hours was a waste of time and could have been summed up in half the time. When the story really began to pick up it become predictable especially since Jack had all the answers. I love the series so this will not stop me from continuing to love the series but this is the proverbial bump in the road. Keep listening and reading!
Very slow beginning and not sticking with the true Jack.
I Love Dick Hill period.
What happened to the narrator of the last 4 books?
The narrator go from loud talking to a whisper at the end of every sentence.
The previous narrator.
Cant even finish the book.
