Anybody who likes a men running around killing each other with no story or mystery. No thrills. No plot. I kept waiting for a surprise to happen.
No excitement at all. No mystery. Boring.
Mediocre. Nothing to get me excited.
Who knows. None of them were exciting. Hard time making a connection with any of them.
Don t bother reading his one.
This one will hold your interest and leave you wanting more. Very enjoyable. I often listen to audiobooks while I ride my bike and this one kept me on the saddle. I wanted more. Great book.
Lee Child's Reacher is always reliable. He would be happy living a dull life with no responsibilities but his bad luck get's him in trouble - once again. In this book duty calls in the form of loyalty to his friends, ex-members of his old investigative team. A simple investigation turns more complex and deadly as the story unfolds and things are not what they seem. In a departure from other Reacher stories, this time he is not working alone, making for interesting dialogues and situations. The bad part is that midway into the story the pace slows down; almost seems that Child had decided on the ending but had to buy some time - or rather pages - before getting there. Another minor complain is that the action scenes are a bit silly, but in his defense, this not the reason why we read Reacher's stories. Dick Hill's narration was excellent as usual.
Reliable Reacher story. If you like them this one will not disappoint you.
Just enough drama and well read.
Good story but dragged toward the end. Not sure if Lee wanted to kill of anyone else before ending the story. I will continue the rest of the series because I like Jack Reacher's character :-)
I have read several of these and enjoyed them all. I would highly recommend this book. Along with being a fast paced thriller, it was one of the only story (I have seen) to provide detail on the Army team he served with. Other books mention his training but not the team he worked with. Reading the different Reacher novels makes each one even better IMO because you are uncovering the more of Reacher's charachter in a cummulative manner as you go through them. I don't think the series really has a strong order I have skipped around and read other sequentially and haven't seen much of a difference. But this is one of the better ones to get the Army side of Reacher. Also for another good read The Hard Way. As for performance, Dick Hill is the only narrator for me. I didn't get the early versions that now aren't sold w/ Dick Hill narrating, I will now not purchase those - note to audible.
This was a great twist to the typical Reacher story to have him working with his old team.
I really enjoyed the other characters that came into play and the interaction Jack Reacher has with them. I find part of what I love about Reacher is his solo act in every story, but I love how the "Old Team" gets together in this novel.
Reacher being Reacher and causing total havoc in what I think is his most "revengeful" mission yet.
Dick Hill IS Jack Reacher in my mind now. He has a great tone, moves the story along and just has a great voice.
The Reacher Novels do not make me laugh or cry, but I do get excited and think, GET EM!
This is one of my more favorite Jack Reacher novels. Great book and gives some good insights into a character that everyone loves, but we still do not know that much about. Read it!
Not his best but in the top 5. Dick Hill does a great job.
Get past the first chapter and then it will make sense.
The title lacks imagination as does the story. Equally poor is the seeming need for the author to include unnecessary detail where there should have been more attention to the story line itself. I would not listen to it again nor would I recommend it to anyone else. The performance by Dick Hill saved it from a rating of one star.
I think the 6' 5" giant of a man described by Child as Jack Reacher.
All of the driving directions & lengthy descriptions of people and equipment.
Attention to the interactions of the characters appreciated.
