This is my favorite in the Highlander series so far, and Gigante is the best male reader I have heard thus far. Moning is one of my favorite authors too.
The Dark Highlander raises the bar for the romance genre and crosses the barrier into paranormal fantasy effortlessly.
Love this book! Steamy and interesting! The narrator is FANTASTIC! Really brings the story to life!
Love audio books. Hate bad narrators.
What didn't I like?
Dageus of course.
Very good book. I hate that the series is over. This one will make you laugh and even cry just a little. Well worth it!
If you love big, sexy, time-traveling Highlanders than this book (and the whole series) is for you!! You won't be disappointed. Phil Gigante does an amazing job with each and every book!
The complications - characters from other books part of this book - closure for some feels - that was nice very nice.
His male voices are HOT! Female voices are just fine especially when he has to do aloof - he does aloof WELL!
No needs to be savory not rushed
Tell us about yourself!
I'm happy I found out the series and sad at the same time as one more book and I'm done reading the whole series :( The problem is I've fallen in love with it and I want more ;)
On the dark highlander Dageus breaks the promise to use magic of going back in time for his own benefit, which was to save his brother's life (Drustin). By doing that he is cursed into having 13 other very powerful and dark druid's souls inside him turning him dark as well (irreversible). But with Dageus resilitent personality he fights them inside of him and seeks a way to free himself. In the process he meets Chloe, so much happens, and they live happy ever after! LOL You didn't think I was going to tell the whole story did ya? hee hee
Anyways, I loved how the whole story developed, and I loved Dageus!
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
If you like core romance with adventure, this series is for you!
Outlander fans may feel this series has too much fluff. You must love romances to appreciate Phil Gigante and my new fave author Ms Moning.
I started with #5 as the reviews lead me to believe, this was going to give me a great start. I have purchased all 7 as Phil reads these beautifully at a fast pace, unlike Jim Frangione, Black Brother hood series, JR Ward. Too slow.
This series is fun, fast, and sexy...if you want a history book ie Outlander, this is not it.
I can see why many listeners have repeatedly listened to this series. It is fast pace and does not drag on.
Get a Kleenex.
I would compare Dark Highlander to any of the other Highlander books in the Moning series. I wish they could make them into a movie.
1. Chloe defending herself from Giles. 2. Dageus saving Chloe from Simon and the Draghar by sacrificing himself.3. Chloe and Dageus reunion at the end. Wish there had been a reunion with Drustan and Gwen.4. Silvan and Nellie's "wedding."So many more........
Both. Extremely exciting.
My only negative about the audio version is that I wish that there had been a female narrator, too. I have nothing against Phil, but it would be easier to listen to a book when you have a real female voice to offset the male, especially in a romance story. This goes for all audio books with both male and female characters.A good example of this is the audio book by Christine Feehan, Dark Slayer. I would buy it in an instant because there are both a male and female narrator. It was great!Think about it.
I love history and romance. I read several books a month and I enjoy listening to books when I am doing other things. A good book can whisk you away to another time and place while a bad book is like a stomach ache.
I rate this one as a personal favorite.
Daegus is a tortured soul struggling to over come. This book is so superbly written that I found myself wanting to jump into it and become the heroine.
When Daegus makes love to Chloe the first time, wow! Best love scene ever!
I loved the rich fantasy of this book, it's like a mystical spell and I couldn't stop listen to the incredible Phil Gigante. I love how Ms.Moning makes strong female heroines and of course even stronger hero's. The great pull and tug of this story makes it heart warming. I found myself physically hungering for the next book and the next. I was sad when I had Listened to them all so I started all over again and again and again.
