I love Patricia Briggs but Lorelei Kings reading leaves something to be desired.
Discovery of Witches, Cry Wolf, & Southern Vampire Mysteries.
Well crafted story. Amazing series.
I've always liked to read. But I've become addicted to Audible and average 5 or 6 books a week. But everybody has at least one vice right?
I would recommend this book to a friend and have. Mercy Thompson is a shapeshifter. A coyote living among wolves....and other things. She's smart, funny, loyal and strong. The kind of friend you want to have. I've read every book so far in this series and I like how characters knit themselves together as a family as time goes on. Well worth the read.
There are many parts of this book I enjoyed. But I thought the junk car she puts in her back yard in full view of her neighbors bedroom window view was pretty funny. He's pretty stiff and formal compared to Mercys more relaxed view of the world. I think she is just what the Dr ordered.
I love the vision she paints of the wolf pack. Not the traditional werewolf story. But real people who also happen to be wolves. Great series. You should read them all excluding the Alpha and Omega series that spins off of this one.
I haven't read the book so I can not ompare but if the book read is anything like the audio it's probably great.
How they intertwined this book with her other book Alpha and Omega Series.
My favorite scene was when she returned to the the wolf pack that raised her to resolved the issue as to why she left.
This book kept me wanting not to stop listening. I wanted to just listen all the way through til the end.
This book is a great read and I would recommend it to everyone.
The story seemed unimaginitive--the themes tired and used. I felt no understanding or connection to any of the characters, so in the end I didn't really care if they all lived or died. I listened to the end hoping to find a sliver of excitement, hoping that my patient listening would reveal why this title has such a high rating. Unfortunately the Hardy Boys type ending does nothing to make me want to buy the next book in the series.
The fight between Adam and his unknown assailants was particularly entertaining.
The whole sidestory with Tony and his two friends was entirely irrelevant to the book.
It is kind of refreshing to have the main character not be a vampire or werewolf. I think I picked this book up on sale as I normally am not a big fan stories with a lot of were in them, but the world itself made up for things and I would definitely give it another whirl.
Magic is out of the bag in this world. Some parts of the magical world are out in the open (even to the point that the US Government, in a case of not learning from the past, has created reservations for them) while most of the supernatural world is still in the closet. Mercy is one of the closeted ones, sitting in almost her own category, a "Walker" who is able to turn into a coyote. Her history of being adopted by a werewolf pack due in part to the similarity of her ability makes her an expert on werewolves, but still an outsider.
Mercy runs an auto repair shop in Washington state. With clients who include a vampire, former bosses who are gremlins and the Alpha of a werewolf clan living right next to her. While raised in a werewolf pack, she has nothing to do with them until events drag her deep into pack business. All because of the act of kindness of taking in a young, newly turned and unaffiliated werewolf boy who she meets through her shop.
Well scripted actions scenes, a very well thought out world and interesting characters made this a fortuitous accidental buy.
I like mostly fantasy - Robert Jordan, Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, etc.
Great supernatural series! Mercy is a coyote who lives nest door to the local alpha were. Good action with interesting stories in each book of the series. Each book is a stand alone story which I like. The narrator does a good job & adds to the overall story. If you like weres, vampires, fairies, & a mystery then you will enjoy this.
I would definitely recommend this series. In fact I plan on listening to Patricia Briggs other series.
This book was enthralling and fun, although not really 'complicated', which worked great for me right now. I couldn't stop listening and am looking forward to the next books in the series. I would highly recommend this. Easy listen and yet interesting too.
An interesting tale of supernatural creatures in very human situations. The book reminds me of a female private detective story combined with a matter-of-fact description of the every day lives of supernatural creatures.
If you like the Sookie Stackhouse series you'll like this series. I love a strong female character with wit, throw in a little romance, and some fantasy characters and what's not to love.
Lorelei King has always been one of my favorite readers, so you can't go wrong.
Patricia Brigg's writing with Lorelei King's narration just bring the story together as a complete package.
I loved the fact that the story isn't predictable.
The charters are very believable. And I related to the charter of Mercy. My favorite scene is when Mercy is with Adam and his daughter held captive and trying to escape.
I got through Moon Called in 3 days. It was very hard to put the story down. I drove my family crazy as every time they wanted to speak to me I had my iPod & ear buds going. LOL.
