I would recommend this book to a friend. In addition to the great voice of Lorelei King, the story lays the groundwork for all future books about Mercy, Adam and all the other characters.
Without a doubt, it is Mercy. She has spunk and refuses to be dominated by any male, even if he is a werewolf.
Adam - loved the voice Lorelei King used for this character.
Well worth the listen!!
I love all R.A.Salvatore books!!!!!!!!!!!!
What i love about this book is that its very hard to stop listening to it every moment kinda jumps out at you and u can pretty much feel and see what they are feeling at that moment.. I couldn't stop listening to this book i actually listened to the whole book in one day...

Between 1 - 10 I'd say an 8.5.
The threat to eat her cat.
Yes she is awesome as a narrator!
I could have if I had the time.
This is a playful fun book. I wouldn't rank it as a great piece of literature but it is fun and easy to follow.
Reader, writer, teacher, consultant. I read mostly Young Adult and Genre Fiction, especially with a mix of literary style and commercial pacing.
Would definitely listen again. The world the author sets up is intriguing and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series, so I'll definitely go back to listen at least once more to get a handle on all the characters that will play in over the course of the series.
When Mercy went back "home".
The two werewolves in Mercy's living room.
There were a lot of laugh out loud moments. I really like Mercy's voice.
Fun, Fun, Fun!
I enjoy Lorelei King very much and as always, she did an outstanding job!
While i am only writing on Book 1...I highly recommend them all....they really are a fun book and I love Mercy!
I really enjoyed this book, I didn’t love it but I enjoyed it. It was a nice easy listen. I liked Mercy aka Mercedes Thompson, the heroine in this book. She wasn’t over the top bad ass but was confident enough in herself, knowing that she’s not a wimp but strong. There was werewolves, fae and vampires all introduced in this book.
Mercy is a coyote or walker, which is almost an extinct species. She’s also a car mechanic. She was raised by wolves (werewolves), the most prominent pack in the U.S. at that. We are able to learn a little about her background and especially her relationship with Sam.
Adam is very intriguing. He is the Alpha of the local wolf pack. There is definitely some serious sparks flying between those two and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
There wasn’t much different from the typical UF books. Conflict, fighting, mystery, murder, possible love interest and conflict resolved with a little left open for the future.
The narrator did a great job, no complaints there.
Keeps you interested,very vivid imagery!!!
Very Well done by Lorelei King, you would've thought there were several readers.
I'm not looking for deep meaning, strong messages or socially redeeming. Give me interesting characters, some laughs and fun plot twists!
I tried this book because I was looking for a new series. I got pulled into the books very quickly. Mercy is a strong female lead who takes no crap from the bigger and badder out there. She's sarcastic, caring and smart.
The books are about the paranormal and the mystery - without a lot of the romance baggage.
I found the setting - the Tri-Cities in Washington and Mercy's "day job" - a mechanic to be refreshing changes from so many of the other series out there.
I'd say the book is worth a shot - and a good intro into the series.
I'm a grad student with very little time to edit reviews because I'm editing research papers. Forgive the typos. They're made with love.
I highly recommend the Mercy Thompson series - I don't know why I haven't rated them until now but I've listened to them over and over. Go ahead and get the whole series (as well as Alpha and Omega - I'll list them in order below).
Mercy is a coyote shifter who grew up in a werewolf pack but has been on her own for about 15 years. A few years ago the local werewolf pack moved next door and she's been avoiding the alpha ever since. She's managed to stay out of crazy trouble until a young man walks into her garage looking for work.
Mercy is a mechanic. She fixes VWs in a garage she bought from a fae - oh, and the fae have come out to the public - when her mentor Z revealed himself as a gremlin. THe guy she helps out just happens to be a newly made werewolf and before she can get him help he's in a heap of trouble and Mercy throws herself into the mix. Vampires, fae, werewolves, and she's an oddity among them all.
Love the character. The writing is well thought out and the plotline is solid even if it leaves you wanting more - which is good since there are 6 others not to mention a spinoff. READ IN ORDER: Moon Called (MT1), Alpha & Omega (novella), Cry Wolf (AO1), Hunting Ground (AO2), next five Mercy Thompson books (MT2-6), Fair Game (AO3), Frost Burned (MT7).
The narrator lacks a big. King sounds like she has dentures or something - her Ss are weird and she says "car" in a way that makes me cringe. And car is a word we hear a lot in these books. However she does a great job with male voices so I let the denture thing slide.
This has a great start and a bit of mysteria and would listen to it again for some of the part that confusing entitled they explained that part the end.
