I am a Company Rep in Central Qld. I travel around 60,000klms a year and rely on my Audiobooks to keep me company on my Country Trips!
I probably started to feel uneasy about this tale right from the start.
I found the jumps forward in time gave the start a somewhat disjointed feel.
The story didn't seem to flow for me and although it did become more interesting as it went on, the ending was highly predictable.
Altogether, I found this a let down after the cracking tale that was The Witness.
I am starting Whiskey Beach now, so that may help balance out these two very different experiences with Nora Roberts'work. I was quite happy with the narrator however!
exciting, mysterious, thrilling
every part with the cougars.....
best one yet.
she trusts the cougar, but can she trust him?....
Yes, I enjoyed the book very much and I know the area.
Yes it did, I didn't know if a big cat would attack other times in the book.
Mid range, easy on the brain but characters and dialogue fun.
My favorite Roberts' "mystery" so far b/c of characters and setting.
This is the third book of Robert's that I have listened to thus far and I am falling head over heels in love with this author and her work. The stories she writes continue to amaze, inspire, enthrall, captivate and every other possible word out there. I have added many of her other books to my wish list and look forward to listening to those as well when money and or credits permit the purchase of them.
I do notice though, this being the third book of hers that I've listened to, that of these three, all of them have very strong male and female characters coming together. Which is nice, it gives the reader/listener, something to dream about and hope for.
Though I can't help but wonder, what if one of her main characters was weak. Not necessarily in physical strength, but otherwise. Perhaps someone who is indecisive, more introverted, or even a bit of a recluse. What kind of story would that make? And what about a different twist to the plot. Instead of the male 'saving' the female, what if it were the other way around? Or what if the male was the weaker of the two and the female the 'heroine' of sorts? Perhaps though, this is not the way that Roberts writes. I do not know, though it is interesting to ponder.
Regardless, I highly recommend this book and others of hers. I intend to listen to more of her books in the future. The classic tale she tells and spins out in a variety of ways, does not get old and will forever remain a classic in the heart of all women.
I am quickly becoming a fan of Nora Roberts. Black Hills seemed to start a little slow, and there was too much background, which can be great except it just went on and on. But the story was great enough that it didn't matter. I was more than willing to listen and go forth because I was so in to the characters.
New York meets the country life in a big way as a child, but as years pass he can't shake the country or the people instilled from that life. They are now the biggest part of him as he has grown into a man and moves back when his g-dad has a heart attack to help out. So begins the real life, rekindled love/hate/hurt relationship, and adventure with a serial killer in-tow.
The narrator could have picked up the pace a bit, but he wasn't bad. At times when there is some excitement, let's hear the excitement...know what I mean? Other than that fantastic book.
This is a wonderful book. I really enjoyed the storyline as I do most of Nora's stories. The narrator was excellent. I wish he read all the audiobooks I listen to. None of his characters were over the top. His men sounded like men & the women didn't sound like drag queens like some male narrators' women voices do. I really enjoyed everything about this book.
I am a miracle worker. Doing what I can to choose love over fear.
None: It had a solid childhood story, great romance and the thrill of a great mystery. Not one boring minute!
Deep characters from different parts of the U.S. the author gives the story a body, Podehl gives it a unique soul.
When a specific animal died.
If you love thrillers this is credit proof, and yes I am talking about Nora Roberts. An author I thought only wrote books for the bored housewife. I bought this because I love the narrator. So I was shocked to be blown away! I almost gave the story five stars which says a lot.
Everything, it kept me on the edge of my seat!
I have never listened to him, but he was awesome!
I would have tried, but I love being able to stop and go back when ever I wanted!
