Interesting concept with very developed characters and story driven. A good story needs a really bad bad guy, and the Shrike plays it's part so well!
Everything comes together perfectly but leaves a nice opening for a follow up. My wife and I were perfectly entertainment through both books.
right up there with Dune and the Foundation series. great book. classic scifi. worth the read for sure. ending was a little weird. im still digesting it.
Whereas the first book in the series had boring gaps due to development of some unlikable boring characters - I think this book got carried away with mysticism. Now, I enjoy some mysticism blended into a good story, but not when it is 'in your face' like a blinking neon sign.
Unsatisfying ending. So much left unexplained. And I feel like that's because it was just essentially unexplainable. Between the time traveling and cyber metaphysics....
Reading Fantasy and SCI-FI on audible.
The first book was a great story. This one takes a different slant and tells another interesting story. It is not as compelling as the first, but still holds together. The bad guy is surprising (figuring out who or what it is). The time tombs are still confusing to me - must just be a bit dense for this one.
Overall a pretty good audiobook.
I'm a web developer based out of Sacramento, I listen to books while I work, and love audible.
Not as good as book one, but it's hard to measure up to one the best books ever written, and this is still a good book.
