This second book in the Rachel Morgan series takes us deeper into the central characters (Rachel and Ivy) of the series. The subcast including Jenks and "Al" the demon are fairly static, but they do remain constant and vital.
This series does an excellent job of creating an Alt-reality story with depth that feels very real. This could very well be the world we live in.
Rachel is searching for the "Witch murders" and eventually finds herself having to choose to work with individuals that she dislikes or outright hates. There is a lot here to enjoy and I think you will find yourself hooked on the series by the end of this installment.
The narration is good, but Ms. Gavin does tend to make all of her males characters sound a bit like Napolean Dynamite.
I'm Eric's mom giving this review and 67 yrs old. I normally read shifter or romance books, This is the first witch book or audio I have listened to. I am hooked and ready for the third in this series. definely worth the money.
Reader of things.
The series just gets better, so I wouldn't change anything
I've read them all and crave more
Smooth, captivating, creative

As a person from Cincinnati, I enjoy the attention Harrison takes to local detail
I love the series! This book was mostly about the relationship between Rachel and Ivy. It was nice to see a softer side of Ivy and still get all of the humor (Jenks) and action from the book.
The mystery was kicked up a level and I appreciate the partnership starting between Rachel and Trent. And for some reason I like that Quen is showing up more in the series.
WOW!I am loving this series by Kim Harrison. The plot just keeps on thickening making you want to keep on listening to find out what in the Under World is going to happen next. What an awesome plot, what great character's.You get some funny, some mystery, mayhem, madness with a hint of romance.Rachel is the new an improved "Sherry Potter".I'm on my 3rd book in a row.I can't get enough.Look forward to finding out all the juicy details & secrets in this series.Have fun to any one who reads her series.I am:)

The final battle
I really enjoyed the first book but this one was a huge disappointment. I kept starting, then lose interest, start again, but in the end I just couldn't pick it up anymore. Rachel's whining was getting on my nerves. The thing with her roommate Ivy is plain stupid. It sounds like an abusive relationship with Rachel blaming herself for Ivy attacking her. Really? Don't see why they are friends. I really can't stand stupid people and Rachel keeps doing the stupidest things. I don't think I can continue with this series. I don't like being annoyed with the main characters of the books I read. The only good thing about this book was the narrator. I'm sorry I wasted a credit.
Say something about yourself!
I am just in love with this series. It is exciting, funny, and unpredictable. I would give the narrator 10 stars if I could. She is AWESOME!! I love Jenks and all his Pixie antics. I would recommend this series to anyone!
I've always loved books. Even before I could read I've loved them. Fact or Fiction, I love books. I'd sooner read a book than see a movie.
I enjoyed the relationships between the characters. The sparing of great wit, acid barbs, and deadly spells make this book fun and exciting.
Yes, the plot was sparked in the first book and plays out nicely until the very end.
I loved Ivy, she really put some deepth into her character.
This book made me laugh, but I was sad and angry over Ivy's ordeal.
I have two rescue dogs. One Scottish born husband. And a love of books that goes back to childhood and bookmobiles!
It just adds great spice a good mystery that is already a saucy, fun read!
