While doing my laundry now, I listen intently to the well versed story, Pride and Prejudice. Witty, and thought provoking, it is actually said that reading and studying the classics will enhance the abilities of the mind. The book is also inspiring as the characters discuss the importance of hard work and of accomplishments; I am more inclined to further my own education from thought provoking conversations from the book. An added bonus: my friends are beginning to laugh as they hear the vocabulary of my children beginning to change since they have been listening to the classics on CD. If you are interested in beginning your own study of the classics, aside from the Bible, this is a great one to start on.
I thought the narrator was first rate. This is the book to listen to for first time Jane Austen listeners. Fun Characters and morals. Mr Darcy truly takes getting beat-up verbally from a woman like a man, and like most verbal bashings of that kind he is misjudged by that woman.
I disagree that Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen's most popular novel. I've always been undeer the belief that "Emma" was not only her best but also most popular.
My suggestion: buy both and take your pick. :-)
