Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
I'm on book 3i must admit book one at first did not sell me totally, but as I continue to listen one of the reviewers said it best like chicken soup to the ears. I love how she makes the books run together its awesome I love Jack and Mel. And she continue their story in every book so far, now preacher and his wife it's so worth a credit or cost. But I love the true to life story not just drama without resolution love them.
Ive read the other reviews and all are pretty much in agreement with me! I am now on the 2nd book in the series. I dont know if I will be purchasing anymore. While some folks like the description of the intimate lovemaking that always takes place, I do not. I dont find so much detail necessary. Now, some people who have reviewed think it is mild, some think it borders porn. I dont think it borders porn, but do find it too much info. Im not a prude or religious zealot....just an average woman who doesnt really want to read about some ficticious character's lovemaking....or non-ficticious for that matter. All in all storyline simple and pretty predictable. I purchase the audio books to listen to while Im walking, so dont want anything to complicated or intense. The narrator does apretty awesome job!
I love books ... Romance are my favorites, with an occasional mystery
I love the story and I want to visit a town like Virgin River
I love Doc Mullins and Mel s relationship
When Mel sees the cabin
Virgin river a great place to drop in
I read the first two books out of order. I wanted to see if I liked Robyn Carr's writing style and Shelter Mountain appealed to me more then Virgin River. This was a good solid start to the series. I really like Mel and Jack. The cast of charters is lively and unique.
Romantic. Realistic. Well paced.
I enjoyed the slow, relaxed development of the main characters.
She has a pleasing voice, able to take on different inflections, accents and timbres.
Yes - but I couldn't! Due to the realities of daily life it took me a few days to finish.
The plot is realistic, true to how people react to loss, stress and change. The characters in the small town are engaging, distinctive and so enjoyable (and irritating or frightening as called for). The book was engaging and it left me wanting to read more in the series to see the evolution of the people in this town. I was especially taken with the crotchety old doctor! I want to see what happens to him!
i have never read this book. i never read since I discovered Audible.
Good story. I can recommend it. Not oredictable.
Excellent performance. She doesn't make you have to listen twice to hear what is read. Easy listening and following.
Worth the money. Robyn Carr Virgin Rivers books are excellent for the romantic heart.
I'll start by saying I really enjoyed this book, but (the proverbial but) the ending was really hokey and totally not needed. The author would have had a very nice ending without this last hokey scene.
The book starts with a very comical scenario when Melinda (Mel) leaves all she's known to run away from a hurtful past by answering a newspaper ad from a small town. Mel is a trained Nurse and Midwife who just needs to get away from memories. As true with many advertisements, Mel soon learns that there is often little truth in advertising.
Jack has already run away from a life of war, landing in the small town several years previous to Mel's arrival. He runs the town bar and restaurant. Though Mel and Jack begin butting heads immediately, Jack determines to at least provide what was offered in the newspaper ad when he learns why Mel came to town. Jack and Mel predictably find solace in each other to help right the hurtful things in their previous lives.
The book is easily listening and enjoyable. While its a love story, the love story is fairly realistic and not overly gushy (though, I'm sorry, the world doesn't really produce men like Jack) . The hokey ending doesn't really destroy the rest of the book since the book could have nicely ended before the last scene.
mainly read romances and books for a book club that take me all over the map.
I felt like I was meeting a set of friends in this book. Entertaining with a nice romance at the center, while dealing with some issues I and friends face every day. It is a wonderful listen and Virgin River proves to be a great place to visit again and again. I'm a little over half way through this 17 book series. So far they have all proved credit worthy and worth a return listen.
