The unusual storyline, mixed with the author's sardonic wit made this a surprising, suspenseful, and really entertaining listen. Not for the faint of heart...I had to pull over because part of the descriptive in this book literally made me feel sick (you'll know which part). Even so, this book is now one of my favorites!
This book was a lot of fun to listen to. Great pacing. It allows one to just enjoy something light and be entertained. Has a lot of incredible "say what" moments.
If you can buy a character who's an ex mob hit man, witness protection program member, Hospital Physician whose grandparents were murdered for reasons that go back to Nazi Germany (and Bazell makes that a surprisingly easy buy) this book is wildly entertaining. The characters, plotting, details, language and descriptions are masterful.
This book will not win any awards for prose, nor will it forge any new genre of literature. What it will do is give you a great few hours of fun. If we could give half stars this would be a 3.5. I have recommended it as escapist reading to several of my friends and they have felt the same way. This book is a completely entertaining way to waste a few hours. Turn off you brain and have a ball.
Too much language. Would be nice if there was some warning that every other sentence must have an expletive. The story was OK, the protagonist unlikeable. Seemed like a Clockwork Orange wannabe.
Not overrated in my opinion. This story successfully mixed Grey's Anatomy, The Sopranos and Dashiell Hammett. I was engrossed by the excellent voice acting, sounds, and music. There were also interesting tidbits of medical information interspersed throughout the story. I am looking forward to the next book by Josh Bazell.
This is such an audible "page-turner". There was excitement from beginning to end! My only problem is trying to locate another book by this author. I hope the Dr. Character stays on the Table of Contents. Great Listen.
