This is a very lengthy report to listyen to in its entirety but you will feel it is worth it in the end. You will have a complete picture of what happened and what the government needs to do to correct it. This is a non-partisan report. It sites fact and tell the audience clearly when the authors are making an opinion statement. I was suprised that they were able to put such a report together.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." Nowadays everyone has thier opinion about how to address terrorism. The discussion should start with the facts, and the 9-11 Commission Report contains the facts. This is required reading for anyone who wants to hold an educated opinion about Islamic terrorism. Highly recommended.
Great documentary and should be a required reading/listening document. Narration was guite good for such a long document. The report had good analysis and reasonable set of recommendations that should be further studied and seriously considered for implementation. The 9/11 Commission's work should not end with this documentary, but rather continue to review progress on its recommendations once every year, and publish the reviews to the public.
I found this report/book very interesting and captivating throughout. Perhaps it was because the 9/11 attacks on United States, are still so recent and fresh in our minds of those who lived through it all. It was a terrifying time and I find that this report helps to answer a lot of questions with factual agreed upon bi-partisan ism that we don't see coming down from Capitol Hill too often.
This a a very long, 3 part book, but I found it to be an interesting read and keeps moving along just fast enough to keep my attention.
Is it the last word on the subject? I doubt it...there will always be conspiracy theories, books and movies that abound, and I'm sure that after "all is said and done", we may even find out more, but for now, this has got to be one of the most comprehensive reports/books yet.
This book fulfilled all of my expectations. It went into detail about what happened on 9/11--what the terrorists, our leaders, the airlines, the passengers, and the emergency responders KNEW as it was happening. It details the travel, education and background of the terrorists. It explains all of the branches of government involved in anti-terrorist activities. Can not recommend it strongly enough. There was so much detail (I think other reveiwers called it boring)but I could not stop listening. It was like a thrilling mystery that is written well enough that it doesn't matter if you already know how it ends. Very sad and hard to listen to at times, but so important! God bless those who died that day, the surviviors, and their families!
I really enjoyed this book and found it riveting and compelling. Such detail and told in such a way that it was interesting from start to finish. If you like "Just the facts" type books, is one is for you!
The 9/11 commission like the Warren Commission into Kennedy's assasination served to quite the public, assign guilt to the scape goats and allow the criminals to go free. It has achieved that purpose. The Iraq war was started on false pretenses - wake up America.
The commission was either stupid or complicit in not examining evidence like:
1) The freefall speed of the towers clearly disproved the pancake theory
2) Where were the bits of the planes the kit the pentagon
3) Whey did the quickly remove and dispose of the girders?
4) The building were designed to withstand a plane crashing into them, why did thefy fall?
5) Why was the Osama Binladen and his family escorted out of the US?
This is discouraging listening
I was a bit skeptical about this 9/11 report, however after listening to the first few minutes I could not stop listening. It gives good picture of the hell that those who died went through. There are graphic descriptions of the on board struggele of passengers and victims. It tells so much about the chaos happened on that crazy day, with America's defence system. We were lucky it wasn't a nuke! Don't hesitate - buy this and listen to it.
While the narration of the book suffers occasionally due to the rushed tempo of some speakers, the content itself is fascinating and should be required reading for all US schools. The failure of the Government to avoid this tragedy, and the seemingly endless stream of warnings that were not acted upon, should serve as a wake up call to all that without dramatic and rapid change, the world we live in will continue to be plagued by terror and events such as 9/11.
