Yes. Tim Curry's performance breathes a different kind of life into a story that I hadn't realized how many times I had experienced before actually hearing the original. It's a kind of guided tour back through memory lane.
The voice. I imagine that had I read it traditionally, there would still be this feeling of being told the story by someone who was sitting right next to me.
I especially liked the part that he was Tim Curry.
I found myself whisked away to the more ethereal and fanciful parts of my imagination. Many different curious and wondrous thoughts became sparked as a result of this book.
There are some quite politically incorrect aspects of this book in the depictions of Native Americans as well as how it treats women. A sign of the time during its writing, I think. Most assuredly these depictions serve as signposts for where we've been as a species, and we should take them into consideration as we figure out where we want to go.
This is the only way to get through all the books I want to enjoy...and still I'm behind!
This book ranks pretty high on the list. It's nice to read/listen through the classics that I should have read long ago. My daughter read this and book when she was about 10 and didn't like it-it wasn't the Disney version. She actually read the book we had. I suppose it would have been a lot different had I read it to her. Hopefully, she'll read it to her own kids or try it again as an adult...but unless you appreciate being and reading to as a child might-it's not going to be the same since Mothers have grown up and Boys don't always.
Captain Hook-boy could you hear classic Tim Curry snarling and sounding crafty. Wonderful!!!
I chose this book because of Tim Curry. I love his voice and characters in film-he is definitely so very memorable.
Curry's voice for Hook is delightful and gravelly and perfect. The book has few surprises since it is a classic, but the reading was good. I enjoyed this and would recommend it to others.
You can never go wrong with Tim Curry, much less Peter Pan. Perfect combination!!! For children - a magical story, and adults - a blast from the past!! Highly recommend!!
Peter Pan is unique but provides the same magical, mystical atomosphere like Harry Potter.
Tim Curry's voice is the key!!! He is AMAZING!!!
It gave me a sense of wonder, made me feel like a child again, in a good way. A world of possibility ahead, adventure around every corner.
Excellent audiobook!!! Highly recommend!!!
This is a great and unique story. Everytime it seems to stray from childrens story to hint at something more indepth, it skillfully pulls itself right back....and usually in a very childish manner. It's nonsensical and exciting. Makes you regret that you ever grew up, but then makes your forget for awhile that you ever did. Beautiful and fun book.....definently an all time great classic.
Tim Curry's narration is good, but perhaps not as good as it could be. It was not a bad narration, but it was not spetactular either....which was a let down. In retrospect, the version read by Jim Dale would probably been a better choice to more fully enjoy this magical book.
I didn't like the guys voice who read the book. The real story of Peter Pan is different than the Disney one. It's sweet and worth knowing.
