It provided a step out of the natural tendency to blame each other for issues while giving me immediately useful tools to improve relationships with the opposite sex.
I have listened to The Eggerichs' being interviews on a Christian podcast. I enjoyed the interview more because his wife was present. They were able to talk about the principles in the book from both sides of the issues.
Men care about their jobs in a way that I simply do not understand. It is blended and integrated into his psyche and his perception of who he is. I don't have to understand this point to shift how I respond to him when he talks about his job.
This book in combination with "For Women Only" have provided a valuable insight into the working mind of men. I am able to better read my guy's body language now.
The ideas and message in this book is right on target. If you use these methods, I truly believe you will find what you are looking for in your marriage. HOWEVER, I don't think the author realizes that he appears to be on the attack in regards to women. it's not so much that his message is mean spirited, but more like that he assumes all women are disrespectful and hateful to their spouses. over and over again he assumes the woman is always this hot screaming mess and conveys that message in his writting. He needs to understand that some of us are not that type of person, we just need the message without the assuming we have the mentality of a phychotic female.
This book explains what is fundamental in marriage and talks about the non-negotiables of both men and women. What each craves and thrives under.
I loved that everything was based on God's word and the inviting way the book was written. It's an honest but full of good will approach.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is married. To anyone who's lost hope it and is discouraged.
