I have a very fast paced life. Audio books are an awesome alternative for me. Long road trips, working out and housework arn't a bore.
I really enjoy the depth of this series. Sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge but that just adds to the depth of the novel. I have read reviews where readers are not thrilled about how a characters life turns out. That is the beauty of this series, they are not predictable.
This was a really good book in the series. The reader is also very good, however, the editing of this book was very bad. Some sentences jerk together and the narrator's tone would change so drastically that it was down right annoying!! If not for that, I would have given the book 5 stars.
Thank you J.R. Ward for the Brotherhood series, I can't wait for the next book. I've been telling ladies at work to check them out, they've read S.M. books I know they'll love the Brotherhood. I'll keep an eye out for the Fallen Angel series starting next month. Thank you again Ms. Ward.
I loved this book, the rythm and content. What I didn't like so much is the narrator. His voice lacked nuances and expression, his tone was formal and pompous. In the formal parts of the book he shone, but in the humorous sections, there was a lack of irreverence needed to make the humor function,
You can hear when the recording stops and restarts because the quality of the voice is different And most annoying is that pauses between passages and sentences are demolished by poor editing. It is like the narrator is talking over himself. The narrator is not to blame. He does a fine job. It is definitely the person mixing or editing the thing.
Story is OK. I can break it down for you. Wrong guy and the perfect girl get together after a very brief and uncomplicated courtship. If you were hoping this was a romance book you would be mistaken. The romance obviously must bore the author because she spends very little time on them.
i have read all of j.r. wards books and was waiting for this one, it didn't disappoint, if you have read her other books you know that the story is not always about one main character, there are other side character that help round out the story. this is my first audio book though and the experience didn't disappoint either, it was well read and it was a very convienent way of reading a book! you could still imagine it in your head the same way. i very highly recommend the book and for a first time audio book reader i highly recommend the new way to read a book.
First of all this is not a stand alone book. But that is okay, as long as you know this is not where you start. If you think of this book as a political fantasy, urban fantasy - with a LOT of sex, it's fine. The reason I mention that it is somewhere between a political and urban fantasy is because it is much more involved and complex than a romance/erotica book. Which with all of the sex, erotica, you might mistake it for.
This is a great addition to the series and a good book, but it does not stand alone.
The audio editing is choppy in several places. It takes you out of the moment, but does not (as far as I know) edit out any important moments.
I've been an Audible addict since 2001. I like fantasy, intrigue, detective mysteries, love stories (not soft porn), and books with a Christian theme (and yes I know some don't think that fits with my love of fantasy). Since my husband retired I have less time to listen, but I always get through at least 4 books a month! I love to stock up during sales!!!
This was a total waste of a credit! Poor writing, unnecessary language, what is the point???
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Revh is like my least favorite character... Again john stole the show with Torh Qhuinn and Blay!
This is on my top 3 J.R. Ward bests. Who knew Revenge was such a "male of worth"! I always saw him as the drug dealing jerk. Until... of course....Elena comes and rescues him. Overall, it was good. Also got a good view of the Sympath thing. Makes more sense with a lot of the stuff now.
