I loved this movie and heard from several people how good the book was, but I am not a fan of the audible version for sure! I don't like listening to the male's voice, it is like nails on a chalkboard...I didn't finish it, can't get thru it!
I was looking forward to this audio book, but as soon as it started I wanted to turn it off. The narrators voice is not right for this book at all. I still haven't been able to bring myself to finish it. For this one, I definitely suggest you read the book instead of listening to it.
This was a very special read - I was totally immersed in the story from the very first word. The narration by Fred Berman and Phoebe Strole was faultless. They brought the story to life and effortlessly carried the listening along, weaving back and forth through time with patience and passion. Audrey Niffenegger's detailed description and all encompassing use of language made this book an absolute pleasure. A love story for all romantics who believe that anything is possible.
At first you have to get used to a few concepts: 1. Having 2 good readers, 2. The dates, and 3. The characters' ages. After a few chapters, you stop focusing on the characters' ages and the actual dates; and more about the story, and the "time" the chapter was being told from. The story was very interesting. It definitely grabs your attention. The time traveling is a bit far-fetched, but instead of focusing on that and getting distracted, just accept it as fiction and get drawn into the story. It was entertaining, but the ending was a little lackluster. I wanted more. It felt like it just ended. **SPOILER ALERT** If a time traveler dies, does he actually go away? He's always time traveling so does that mean he lives forever? That's the part I couldn't really come to terms with.
Lover of history, travel, and MP3 players (to distract me from things I'd really rather not have to do)!
I loved the premise of this novel, and Niffenegger does a masterful job of creating time-traveling "rules" that stay consistent throughout. Even when we're pretty sure how things are going to end, I was riveted to the narrative to find out how all the pieces fit together. Thankfully, Clare and Henry had their own narrators, which really helped keep everything straight. My only complaint (thus the 4 stars) is with performances of the readers. They weren't terrible - far from it - but William Hope particularly seemed to lack a spark (surprising, given the number of high profile books he's narrated). Also, they both made some odd pronunciation choices in a few places. But overall I found this to be an excellent audiobook, well worth "reading" to the very end!
This has become one of my favorite books on tape. The characters come alive and the bouncing through time is a fun element.
Audrey Niffenegger has written a most wonderful book of love that knew of no time as it's boundaries. The Narrations done by William Hope and Laurel Lefkow makes the story seem so real as if this is something that had really happen. love every second of this wonderful Audio book.
I'm a teen; my favorites series are Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and Twilight by Stephene Meyer.
This books was captivating and very original. I haven't read much about time traveling but this was interesting from start to finish.
IT IS A LITTLE CONFUSING AT FIRST, BUT THE STORY IS WRITTEN BEAUTIFULLY. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE CHARACTERS, I WAS NOT EVEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ENDING?????
