Susan Elizabeth Phillips is my go to for fun. Harry Potter - just because. Loved the Magic of Tidying Up and Shakespeare
I love the characters and the depth of their feelings for each other. I sobbed afterwards. Every person deserves this kind of devotion, but it comes at a cost.
Great narrators. Even when the author dissolves into overly flowery prowse, both narrators do a wonderful job sounding involved in the story.
I loved the concept for this book and was very excited to finally listen to it. It started out slow, but mainly due to the authors use of overly detailed descriptions and even a few lapses into other languages, all meant to establish the romance and deep beyond time love of the main characters. It dragged until the middle, then the story started to really develop and I started to care about the characters. Towards the end the book took a dark and almost macabre turn. The rest of the book followed suit. I went from just liking the book, to really disliking it.
There were things in this book I love and things that I hated. Most books take a while to like the characters But like Henry, my feelings for him and Clare jump around. By the end of the book, I didn't care about them as much.
I have read a lot of the other reviews. Some felt cheated while others called it gloomy and depressing. I can argue. I wanted to like this book, but the characters made it tough.
The author did however, do a good job of connecting the points in time together. This story must have been difficult to write
This book is a movie. I prefer the book to the movie.
Most of the reviews for this book are favorable. This is one book you will have to make up your own mind on.
Loved them too, they did a great job..........totally beleivable wonderful characters
Really loved the whole thing, I didn't want the story to end
It,s about number 3
The love part .How they was able to have a baby..How each time he traveled and lost his shoes and clothes. How he came back, the fact that he enjoyed reading, the wedding
how his wife waited on him as a young lady and after he lost his leg. her unconditional love for him
him being in the look cage with no way out naked.
All of them.
The sex they always had, them loving coffe. how she was able to remember. How he was able to see in the future how he explained to the doctor about his pregnant wife about their son disabilty. How the doctor was very skeptical how did he know. how the doctor did not believe him, then decide to help the have a baby even after all the miscarriage.
I usually like stories about time travel, but his one was just too contrived for me.
I read this book at the recommendation of a friend and also because I had seen the movie. The story was a great read. It was well narrated and the characters were well developed.
It is a little confusing with the jumps back and forth in time if you don't pay attention to the story, but I followed it well enough.
Due greatly to the performers and the authors excellent phrasing, I felt like I was a fly on the wall in the life of two interesting, well-rounded, likable people. Unfortunately, the end smushes that feeling. There wasn't enough why and how for me. The journey was enjoyable even if the destination was less than desirable.
This book is fantastic and the narrators are superb especially the girl. I loved the lisp she gave to the young character. a brilliant concept . much much better than the movie which i quite enjoyed. Really loved the descriptions . Beautiful prose.
