Yes and no. Both versions are enjoyable.
Any of the Paula Quinn highlander series books. The story lines are captivating, engaging, dramatic, sexy, and laugh enducing.
Yes, and as always, Mr. Gigante delivers an excellent performance. He is one of my favorite male narraters.
This book was, well.... painful. I fell asleep three times during the course of it. The story was not as endearing as the 1st book and not as interesting as the 2nd book. But, yes, I will continue the series as I am invested now.. I am hoping the next book is better... :-(...
This was my first experience with the Highlander Series and with Karen Marie Moning.
The author is a good story teller, but was shocked by the detail in the love scenes. Makes me nervous to find out what books are listed in the "Erotica & Sexuality" section... Certainly should be listed under the romance genre... Despite the R rated scenes, I still enjoyed the love story and even downloaded the next in the series, which I would give the same review to.
The reader did an okay job. I agree with other reviewers that his interpretation of female voices is extremely terrible and can be distracting, however he does a great job on the narration and the male voices. Once past the first hour, I got used to it and it didn't bother me much.
I would recommend to my girlfriends as a great steamy escape, however would never admit to reading these books to any of my guy friends in a million years. I'd probably listen to it again in the far future...
The story was alright, but the female character comes across so whiny. The narrator did not help. His female voice pulls you right out of the story.
The story had lots of gaps in bringing the fantasy world to fully believable life. The male narrator's attempt at all the female voices was horrible. This includes how he did the heroine which made me start to dislike her just because of his grating falsetto. This was a disappointment.
would like to think i would like the book better if i read it myself, but honestly i will never be able to get the narrators voice out of my head. He was fine as the guy even though i found his accent inconsistent (sometimes he sounded more deep south than Scottish.) But when he read the female character's parts, it was just plain bad. Dont waste your credits. I thought the others were exagerating- they werent. It is that bad.
i love Phil gigante and the Highlanders series was one of my favorites long before i started audiobooks so the combo was fabulous
Really this is great romantic fantasy! If you like that kind of stuff you will enjoy this series. It is way more romantic than the fever series and less dark and traumatic.
