Some have complained about the apparent digressions. However, these are eventually all tied together in terms of the motivation of the characters and the plot
This book did not have that great of review and it was not very expensive so I did not have high expectations. However, it was excellent! I normally just listen to books when traveiing. This book traveled with me throughout the day until late into the night until I finished it. I could not put it down.
This is an example of the perfect match between narrator and spoken word. The tension and intrigue is there from the minute the book gets underway and I look forward to hearing more from both the author and narrator.
I really enjoyed the way the author led me through the book, but the reader is what made the book come alive. His accents were fantastic, and made me really pay attention. I can't wait to hear more from both the author and the reader.
An intriguing if somewhat overly involved plot. Narration is excellent, properly weighted and good voice acting. Overly long with too many plot reverses but highly reccomend.
Driven by his own past this detective isn't perfect and the story line has great twists and turns. Not one of those "I know who did it" in the first 100 pages books.
Great story and an outstanding reader. If you've ever been to London, makes you feel like you are right there. You could almost smell the air and excitement.
I would guess that having the same title as the ABC TV show is attracting people to this book. I admit I'm not a huge fan of the British crime genre, but this book isn't even a good example of that group. The plot isn't consistent, repeats itself, makes huge jumps with little or no factual basis, and just makes it difficult to follow and remain awake. Don't be fooled! I only give this 2 stars because the reader does an okay job of reading bad material.
