I must say that when I need a break and want a good laugh, I listen to this series. Christopher Moore is very funny. I don't listen to very many books more than once but this is one exception for me.

After reading the reviews and listening to the sample I thought this would be a decent light read. The story was fairly entertaining, and the ending was very funny - but I really enjoyed the character development. Jody is not your typical vampire and Flood is hard to pin down, but very silly and endearing. I had a little trouble with the reader - a few times not using the right character voice - but she was decent.
This is not one of my most favorite listens, but definitely near the top and worth listening to again.
I'm actually a day old tart, filled with maple custard. Perhaps, this reads as a rational introduction to others, and you are deliberately misreading it, because, come on, maple custard.
Loved it! Well rounded atypical characters! There's a significant underlying morality to the novel, which doesn't slap you in the face. You can absorb it, or just set your brain to cruise control and appreciate the masterly writing. Not the average cheesy man with eye lashes and defined calves that does everything [verb]ly, and woman fawning on things in a slipshod bodice, type of romance. More realistic, and very funny!
I love to read and I read for fun. Escape and imagination are great reasons to love a book.
I generally like Christopher Moore's books, but this one just fell a little flat. Are some very funny moments and some sad moments, but it just did not hold my attention as well as most. Partly I think it was the narrator, hence the lower performance score.
I'm a fan of Sci-fi, fantasy and suspense. I like books that keep me guessing till the end.
This is Moore. Don't listen to his books back to back, and you'll enjoy then ...::wincing:: Moore.
He used a quill filled with acerbic ink to pen his stories. If you are a fan of sarcastic wit and humor so dry it leaves you looking for the attached desiccation packet, then saddle up boys and girls! He had me laughing out loud in some places (always a little disconcerting in public places) and it was a great break from more serious genera. I recommend it for a mental palate cleanser.
Tell us about yourself!
This is by far my favorite author, nothing reads like Christopher Moore. Be careful if you listen to this while driving people will think you are crazy. You may not be able to get away with listening to this at work because you will be laughing hard. This entire series is great! Actually anything this guy write is funny even his facebook post are crazy.

This is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time.. I absolutely enjoyed every minute... don't waste time buying each book separately. Download them all now: Bloodsucking Fiends, Bite Me and You suck; that way you will not have to waste a minute getting to the next one. Very very enjoyable. Highly recommend. Also, loved the SF Bay Area setting.
Wag More Bark Less
The Book itself is very good. I would have never even stopped to look at the discription if I had not seen an artical about Christopher Moore. If they changed the cover to something that does not look like a bad horror movie. They might just get more listeners. I hope thats not the cover that went to press. Awful!
Other reviewers have already given great summaries of how this book is really funny and enjoyable. All of Christopher Moore's characters (in this book and others) are profoundly quirky, and it would be very easy for his outlandish scenarios to seem downright silly in a way that makes you not feel very invested in the storyline. But he has such affection for the characters that he can humanize even the strangest ones, and I always end up caring about the characters enough that I want to know what happens to them. Thumbs up - and read all of his other books too.
