I LOVE books. And dogs & quilting & beading & volunteering.
I don't read Roberts much anymore-she knows her audience and basically writes the same book over and over. I sometimes count the number of times she uses "He fisted his hand in her long (blazing red/midnight ebony/flowing chocolate) hair." In Captivated, it was 4 times.
This is an old Donnovan series book, dug out, apparently, for this Audible special to attract Roberts many fans. It contains 2 of 4 short novels in the series. The last 2 are not available on audible though her loving audience seems to be begging for it.
The reader is nice to listen to, does a variety of voices and accents well and her voice was pleasant. I see she reads quite a few Roberts books. I liked her, but between her soothing voice and the sorry old plot I was put to sleep - twice.
If you are looking for an inexpensive and low key book for an airplane listen or general relaxing, I'd say the price (right now) is worth it. I bought it because I'd never listened to a Roberts book on audio...don't think I'll do it again.
Retired high school English teacher. I liked and worked with the at-risk student. Interested in about everything, but I love a good story.
I was appalled with this book. Ordinarily, in the very least, I enjoy Ms. Roberts' characters and the way they approach what are, definitely, mundane romance situations. There was none of that charm in this book. Her characters are lifeless. This is an excellent idea of how not to write a romance novel.
I wish I hadn't wasted the money because I didn't listen to the whole thing. That's an unusual situation for me because I'm relatively accepting.
Complete enjoyment..and two stories for the price of one. Loved Nora Robert's lovely flow to the story. Narration is awesome. Not to be missed!
narrator was lacking in the performance. her Irish accent was horrible. she did not have much emotion, or change in her voice between characters. the story is amazing though
These stories were definitely captivating. The love stories did seem enchanted, but held enough of a hold on reality to let them connect with the reader. Nice escape.
The narrator is horrible. The way she stresses the wrong words drives me crazy. I read the books years ago, and absolutely loved them. This audio book, however, I could not finish. Couldn't stand listening to the way this lovely story got butchered. Really, I wonder if Nora Roberts ever listened to this one..
In love with love...
I've officially been taught a lesson about buying a book with a narrator Im not familiar with. I am a huge Nora Roberts fan and this book doesn't disappoint but for me this reader was a whispery, breathy, sultry mess!!! Lord I had a hard time trying to get past her voice. Please listen to the sample to make sure the readers voice doesn't irk you.
