I am not a sci fi fan but I checked this book out because it was highly recommended. I was NOT disappointed! It is awsome no matter what genre you listen to. The narration is fantastic. It's one of those that you can't stop listening to until you reach the end and then you are ready for more.
I had not read this proviously and had heard of it. Remarkable in its understanding about how successive generations of humans, particularly young people, would come to live in their heads and fantasies rather than in the world. Here, the world is so poorly drawn that it is not surprising that Ender would become a fantasy/reality gamesman. Overall enjoyable if not compelling and drags considerably so that a tighter book would have been a more interesting one. But who am I to argue with a "classic".
I could go on for hours about what's wrong with this book-- it's not a small list. However, you should ignore that, because there's so much that's right about it.
The reading takes some getting used to, too. But never mind that, either. A true classic.
for the start of this book to the end orson scott caard as your attention I'm not a sifi person more for history but i was hooked within the first few minutes makes you think from the begging to the end thank you for the chance to listen to the whole book
A powerful and addictive story. I sat and listened to this story with my satelite big screen tv turned off.
It sucks you in and in some part is a credit to the narrator who's voice is part of the addiction.
I started listening to this story on XM radio and missed some segments so I took a look at the advertisement that I could download the story for free by signing up with Audible. Good deal.
Dont know where to start...Ill be honest never heard of the author, I usally stick with Stephen King, Asimov, and the like but took a chance anyway..(had a book credit to burn).
What a story!!! This is not a kids book at all, and when you finally figure it out, or read to the end you will smile from ear to ear!! My friends were making fun of me with the dumb smile I had on while I was working! An amazing tale of the life of one special boy, and what he becomes!! Wished the story would never end!!
This is a slow book that drones on page after page with 'filler.' In fact, the author candidly admits, in an interview that comes at the end of this book, that it started as a short story.
Yes, there are some neat gimmicks - but they are surrounded by hours of droning - and tthere is not ONE well crafted sentance in the book.
The narration is very good.
It's been many years since I first read this wonderful novel! The quality of the narration brings the book to life! Make you look forward to the next long car trip!
