Small things matter.
They are all great!
Less childish intonation.
I don't live in Enders time but his pressures feel true to me even now. I identify with Ender and it has made me stronger.
The book is an easy read with lots of turns and twists. i enjoy a book that is not predictable yet not unbelievable. a recommended read for all sic-fi fans.
Poor young Ender!
It isn't really a fair comparison, but I could compare it to Hunger Games in a few ways. The fact that the characters are children is a really important factor.
My favorite character is actually Colonol Graff. He is dynamic wih lots of sides to his personality.
One boy's fate is connected to the world.
Usually audiobooks with multiple casts distract me. This was the most seamless and well-performed multi-cast production I've seen. I read Ender's Game long ago and this was a great way to experience the story again!
I can really see why this is a classic. The way the author explains how a soldier becomes a hero is quite fascinating.
I really liked how you could see the person (Ender) in each situation, making grown-up decisions that affect civilians and non-civilians.
I loved the twist at the end. Perhaps many people knew it was coming, but it caught me off guard. Bravo.
The fight scenes were a little long. But the dialogue was incredibly powerful. I underlined passages as I listened that I wanted to remember, and they were countless. Very powerful statements made that are truly timeless.
Because it can teach you about friendship, management, leadership, much more than my University textbooks can. The presence of more than one speaker in definitely a plus.
The final, of course. Probably the most stunning ending ever!
The fight against 2 armies
The part in which Ender is assigned to a real army, and his friend Alai kisses him and says >
I have always been a fan of sci-fi but I'm not hardcore yet, so I'd never heard of Ender's Game before Audible. THANK GOD I found this book. Whether or not you're into sci-fi, traveling the universe, alien invasions, etc, this book is a fantastic journey. I was completely transported into a different universe every time I listened to this, and I couldn't stop until I finished the entire book. The narrator is great and gives the book an eerie feel in all the right places. Ender is a very likeable character and one I've thought about many times since finishing the book. In fact, I find the book popping into mind at odd moments even now, several months after finishing it. I'm definitely going to obtain the rest of the series. And I can't wait to watch the movie in December!
I have nothing different to say about this book that has not already been said, no praise that I can give that has not already been heaped and so well earned. It just makes you want more of Card's genius.
The book itself (Nebula and Hugo award winner) needs no one's recommendation. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the care given to the audiobook performance. The use of multiple voices to represent the multiple points of view in the story. The attention to casting (I cannot imagine a more empathic Valentine), and the nuance and creativity in delivery make this a very worthwhile listen. Easily five stars.
There is something about an audiobook, when it is done well, that just helps bring the story to life. I think this is a great example of how an audiobook can, and should, be done
Ender has to be my favourite character because I recognize many characteristics about my own childhood, though obviously I never attended battle school :(
My favourite scene is when Bean first starts training his own toon.
I would love to listen to this all in one sitting, but I am also a realist. This was easy to pick up again and carry on though.
For some reason this is a controversial book. Don't let any comments you may have heard put you off as this book is brilliant. It has a lot to say about life, warfare, education and the way we treat children.
I read this book while I was in middle school and it was even better the second time! I can't wait until the movie comes out! Not only was the story great, both of the narrators gave amazing performances! Each character had their own voice or inflection and it made the story that much more engrossing. I highly recommend this book/series to anyone who is even a tiny bit interested in science fiction. You won't be disappointed!
