This was a book that used science fiction and a futuristic battle school to set the stage for a heart-warming story of courage and perseverance. The contrast was incredible, the readers were Oscar-award winning actors for all I could tell, and every moment was captivating due to that.
Ender's first experience as commander.... pretty awesome.
Everything about the performance of the voice actors was incredible. They were truly invested in making the story memorable for the readers/listeners.
Love is a Battlefield.
Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" is brilliant. The characters, the plot, the language, all of it is executed with perfection. I listened to two different performances of this story and was very impressed with this version. The readers made an already capturing story more engaging.
Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.
Very entertaining, very thought provoking. Written well and flows well. This edition is well narrated. One of my top 10 books.
Tell us about yourself!
At or near the top
Ender Wiggin. Fascinating transformation from quiet genius to Battle Commander
The battle room
This book has a reserved spot on my ipod. I can listen to this book any time. The performance is excellent.
I enjoy, epic and modern fantasy, science fiction, business, historical mystery, and technology books. Fav. series: Game of Thrones, Vampire Earth, Dresden, Iron Druid, Falco mysteries, Chris Anderson titles, Peaceful Warrior, and the Way of Kings (and more, of course;)
A superb story about a boy who is manipulated/ guided by the adults around him into being (hopefully) the savior of the planet from an invading race of aliens. Earth has twice been invaded and barely survived, and now is training its youth to form the best gallactic battle force it can to defend against a third attack. Ender is tagged as the future general, and the story poses some interesting questions about the limits to the price victory, and about knowing your enemy.
Great character development, and an exciting story for teens and adults alike. The narration cast is fantastic, and bring real depth to the story. This is a story that I think is better narrated, than on the page. I strongly recommend Ender's Shadow next.
I really enjoyed the occasional in character first person narrations we got to hear from Graff and some of the other teachers and Fleet personnel.
A book I've enjoyed for years and keep getting out again, this was a great way to enjoy it another time, and perfect for a long road trip.
It was fun remembering all the characters and meeting them again as Ender does.
Humanity needs its Hero for the Third Bugger War
Altough this is not a new book, the plot is definitely actual. Loved the caracter development and the reading was amazing. Great voices.
The most enjoyable feature of this recording is the cast of voices that add a dramatic effect to the listening that is far beyond the normal and spectacular in execution.
Certian characteristics about Ender Wiggins' personality come to the story for a pivitol understanding of why he succeeds in this unique and vital mission.
Absolutely -- it is spellbinding.
The very cool plot twist.
I agree with the author in that this was a story best done as an audio book.
