Cutting for Stone, altho frankly Cutting for Stone is a better story in my opinion. However, it brings the basic American into a world we would not otherwise know and surely never understand. Both books provide an 'education' of another culture and thus an understanding of some past events in those cultures.
I was a high school history teacher and a physician assistant-retired.
I couldn't keep the characters straight nor remember their relationships. I stopped listening early.
