No. My expectations were not met.
There was nothing that stood out as a "wow" moment for me. The worse part of all was the narration of the book, especially since it was done by the author. I almost did not complete the book for that very reason.
However, since the ratings were so great I kept thinking something is going to get better. (Just didn't work for me).
Only if you don't read it first.
Yes. It is one of his best
Yes. Short book but so entertaining
Not really. I spent more time listening to Mitch Albom's accent and lisp.
Mitch should have had a professional narrate his book; his narration includes his accent, his lisp, and his pedantry.
If you want to listen to Mitch Albom ham it up, listen to the 'special' interview at the end. Geez, I thought I was going to throw up. It's embarrassing hearing an author speak so poorly and make grammatical errors during an interview where the soft-ball questions are gobbled up by Mitch, like that dog food where you add water and it 'makes it's own gravy'. What a douche!
When I listened to this book being read by the author himself, it was like getting a look into the mind of the person who actually wrote the story. The story came to life more vividly and clearly and it was easy for me to actually picture the characters and sights and sounds and almost see and smell everything around me at Ruby Peer. It was thrilling and exilerilerating to experience. Especially when, at the end, the listener is left guessing whether or not the main character had actually saved the life of the child on the ride he had lost his life saving. I won't give away the answer, of course. You have to read the book! Excellent book! The ending is quite the twist!
The author actually used the real voice of his uncle Eddie... The character the story is written about, The main character... In real life, his real voice... So therefore it gave the story credibility. As if it were a true story, though he says at the beginning its not. What a wonderful thought that ones life could make sense like that and have such meaning.Recently, I've been studying books about heaven and the hereafter and this fits in perfectly.
My favorite character of all, as I said, was Eddie. However, if I had to say a close second it would have been a close second his wife, Margarite. I could easily associate with her because of my own marriage and time with my own husband. I only hope our lives are as beautifully intertwined in eternity. The author submits his subject in an insightful and curious fashion making one think about how we would see our lives though other peoples eyes even through others perspectives as they affected our lives. Very fascinating.
If I were to rename this story, I think I would have a hard time doing so. I think the name given is appropriate. I wld have called it, "Live your life completely" or something foolish like that. No, the Author hit it on the head. Excellent story. Actually, I saw NOTHING wrong with this performance at all.
This story is definitely One in which I would add to the list of necessary books that our TY lung people today should read as a lesson in the classics and in literature of our day. It teaches wise lessons everyone should know and keep in their hearts as they prepare on their way to heaven.
The twists and turns in the story.
The voice was a great match. He did a wonderful job with narrations and characters.
Maybe I would read it again since it took a while for me to understand what was happening at first.
When he found out about the little girl.
Really enjoyed to see how he was connected to each person. Makes you wonder who your 5 people might be.
Thought provoking and entertaining. The author reads the book and brings life to it. I can't think of anything else to say, but needed at least 15 words. So there you go!
The story was only topped by the performance.
How it started out introducing the character.
No favorite scene, it was all good.
Each character had his purpose.
The pictures of the blue man that the author painted in my head
yes, but couldn't
Most enjoyable was that I could listen to it at work easily, downloaded right to my computer, clear quality and so convenient.
I had to read this book to write a report about and found myself with no time to read it. The story took me a long while to get into, it had a pretty slow start, but by the end it all fit together like a puzzle to make a beautiful picture.
My favorite part was the time Eddie spent with his wife enjoying their time together.
