The antagonistic yet fun chemistry between the main characters. This is a great performance reading!! a fun "what if Spock & Q ever met" scenerio :O)
The initial meeting dialogue, Q's ode to himself and Spock's discourse on human life are all quite memorable.
Yes & this is Top Rate!
The verbal sparring was first rate and even though it is all audio, I could "see" them interacting in my minds' eye. That is how closely meshed ther characterizations are!!
If you like Star Trek and enjoy "Spock's" and "Q's' characters, then this (and the sequel) are both "must haves" for your collection.!!
I love this audiobook and the sequel! I kept listening this again and again because I love hearing Mr Nimoy and de Lance voices and playing their parts to the hilt.
Yes, Nimoy and John de Lancie were great.
I should have listened to the sample before buying. This was more of a play/comedy routine than a book.
A great capture of some great actors. Simply fun to listen to - as someone liking Star Trek. Leonard Nimoy is absolute brilliant int his - as is John de Lancie. Wish I had been there in the audience.
A delightful hour of banter and inside jokes taped in front of a live audience. Nimoy and de Lancie are clearly relishing attempting to out do the other. If you watched The Old Show and Next Generation, it's a welcome return to those series. Sure, it got a bit long, but the overall spirit and the gentle acknowledgment of the fans is like comfort food.
The only redeeming feature of this audio programme was the performance of Q, which unfortunately only highlighted Leonard Nimoy's totally wooden Spock. The so-called riddles were turgid, convoluted and overly clever. This is one for serious Trekkers and convention goers only, everyone else should give it a miss.
Over many years characters stick in your mind, Q and Spock are two of those characters. Legends in their own bathrooms. Positively humorous, undeniably witty with an all-important message for everyone to heed. So pay attention to the wit.
