Most of this book is minus the main characters and those parts are sooo boring and tend to repeat. i found my mind drifting during those parts. I recommend skipping those parts. This book is just ok. Not his best - just ok.
I just achieved App Master!! I never thought I would make it this far!! Thanks Audible
Yes, I would skip the middle though!!!
It stands alone.
You can feel the hurt in Richard at times.
I didn't know where they were going with the whole minster of defense story but it came out in the end. Everything comes out in the end and the last part is awesome,I was on the edge of my seat when Kahlan was done for and Richard was their but not their for her! I just wanted to say its Kalhan. In all the other you could séance her presence what's is going on!!! So I'm starting the 6th book!!
I enjoyed the previous entries in the series as fun popcorn fantasy. However, with Soul of the Fire the writing becomes unbearable! Characters are forced to do and say things that make little to no sense for who they are simply to carry along the plot. New characters are introduced but feel ultimately like a waste of time and chapter to "just get through." The plot itself is relatively basic but takes a very long time to actually happen. The book is based on dealing with the issue that came up at the end of the last one (the Chimes) and doesn't resolve much of anything in its hamfisted ending. This book very much feels like the middle filler episode of a bad B quality television show.
At least all the names were said the same as they were in the first book. This narrator is good as the voice of Richard but I do wish they hadnt changed narrators so much throughout the whole series.
the world built by the author is fantastic and rich but the story repeatedly uses the same tired literary themes and plotlines. nothing unique sadly but still fun to read
