I loved this book. It perfectly describes what it's like to be abused. I dislike the feeling I get when I listen to the punishments of the child, but I don't dislike anything about the narration or the story itself.
I read this book years ago and so I didn't even listen to the audio sample.. the moment I heard the narrator's voice I was instantly regretful. It absolutely took the power from the book and made it sound so weird and disingenuous. I'm new at audio books, so it was a hard lesson learned to listen to the sample first. I think I'll stick with author narration so that at least I know it will be authentic. I really feel like the narrator made it sound like a weird joke. love the book, wish there were other narrators to choose from.
I read everything. I don't have much time so audible is perfect for me. My reviews will cover many genres of books. Christian to "Tween"
Yes. Although I use print and audio, the novel was better with the audio.
The whole book is unforgettable.
A movie would be great but I'm sure it would be hard to make.
Great book for young adults & teens too. It's a learning experience.
The torture this poor boy went through is shocking & disgusting at the same time. I cried while reading this. I would read this book & the 2nd book again for sure!!
I love a good book, but never have time to sit and read. Audible is wonderful for people like me. Even though my kids think I am a nerd for always having my headphones on, someday they will wish their college books were on audible!
I just can't imagine anyone every doing that to a child, so it was hard to listen to.
Description the author puts into almost every part of the book
Yes he did...but I would have liked to have heard it in a younger voice since the book is about a young boy.
