This book is a great addition to any library...in any form. I wish the photos had been available as a download for us, because I'm sure the information would have been much more enjoyable and useful. I learned more about my dog from this book than I have from 10 others. I highly recommend it.
this book is all about dog behaviour, and it covers that subject very well. if you ever wished dogs came with an owners manual, here it is. an interesting side benifit of this book is that once you learn to read dogs better, you also start to notice the same body language in humans. this book makes no attempt to delve into the minds of people beyond their interactions with dogs, but the link is impossible to miss once you know what to look for.
lots of emotional ups and down here also. the narrator does a great job not only delivering the technical lessons, but also delivering dramatical performances in the sections where the author gives dialog to help illustrate a point. an excelent book for drama fans, psychology fans, and dog lovers alike.
I love this book, I didn't want it to end. It offers valuable information on communication and how loving dogs can alter certain hormones and neurotransmitters that enable us to feel pleasure and bond with them. I feel bad for people who don't connect with animals, especially dogs, since their contribution in our lives can be absolutely priceless.
Trisha has an extremely down-to-earth way of presenting her information. Any layman can connect with what she's saying. Very informative and entertaining book. I highly recommend this book and any other authored my McConnell if you're interested in animal and dog behavior, how to train them and how to talk to them non-verbally.
This book is a must read!!! I enjoyed this book most so far. I have also read other books to try to understand dog behaviors, but this one was the best by far (even if is audible format versus the graphical/print version). I was able to apply the gained insight almost instantly. I do not know if this is related to my love for dogs and the ability and/or interest to understand them or credit for this book. I enjoyed the explanations of the brain chemistry which are just professional enough not to get lost but still understand their functions.
In my personal opinion 80% or dog related problems stem from handler problems one way or another. If you are interested in understanding your dog and some of his/her actions, the causes for these actions and possible treatments, this is a must read before you consult a professional dog trainer/behaviorist. Having read this book you will be able to discuss and professionally describe the (unwanted) behavior. You may also be able to create your own treatment plan to resolve problems before having to consult a professional.

I always loved my dogs like dear friends. I feel like I have gained a great deal of insight by this book. I really appreciate her wisdom, and great way to tell about these creatures of the canine kingdom that we love to bond with. I look forward to any other books by her.
This has got to be one of the best sources for information on dog behavior. Well written and narrated, it held my interest nonstop. This contains countless explanations of dogs' actions in a scientific but easily understood manner. Though not a training manual, I found this a huge benefit to my ongoing dog obedience attempts. By providing insight and understanding at a level that I have not found elsewhere, it has been invaluable. I wish that I would have known half of this stuff two or three dogs ago. It would have saved me and them from so many avoidable situations.
I'm a big fan of Pat Miller's dog books ( Positive Perspectives 1 & 2 ) in which she often mentions Patricia McConnell . Now I know why. Top rate information in a very humanistic (or canine-istic) and positive manner. Highly recommended for dog owner or non-owner alike. I know that my dogs are thankful for this one. Woof woof.
In addition to Pat Miller's training books, I found "The Art Of Raising A Puppy" by The Monks of New Skete, extremely helpful.
Couldn't get enough of these fun, informative and captivating lessons of the workings of a dogs mind. I never thought learning could be so fun. The author mixes science with personal experiences to capture ones interest in realizing what makes our beloved friends minds tick. If your a dog lover, this is a book you won't want to miss.
you'll love this book. My, how thoughts have changed over the years on dog training and the way we should interact with our furry friends.
The book is ok but too long, it could be half the size. Watching just one season of Cesar Milan should be enough and more interesting for the same knowledge
