"Great in audio format"
This is a book that has been on my shelf for years and I have never been motivated to get through it. However, this particular book works extremely well in the audio format. After a slightly slow start, I found myself enthralled and listened for many hours straight. It is also a book that I plan to listen to again and again over the years so it was an excellent use of a book credit. C.S. Lewis presents a very logical and detailed analysis of the existence of God and validity of Christianity. I highly recommend the book to anyone searching for the truth as well as to those of us who can grow from a well reasoned argument for faith in God and Christ.
"Thought-provoking theological philosophy"
For a long time I've been what my friends jokingly call a "recovering Catholic", but lately, I've been looking for critical thinking around Christianity. This is an incredible resource to open the mind to ideas I'd grown up with, but not fully understood--or at least had taken the time to think through. An excellent book for those who are thinking of their faith. A short course in theology.
"Excellent Reading of an Great Book"
The conversational tone of the reader augments the style of C. S. Lewis' sometimes dry writing and forms a amazing reading of a work that is timeless.
"To the scientists"
I am not a christian, but I do find myself wondering about religion. The main reason I have not yet been a religious man is that I am a scientist and an incredible sceptic. This book is christianity explained for the scientific and sceptically mind.
"Excellent and to the Point"
C.S. Lewis is a master. He presents complex thoughts in a condensed and simplified form that leave you so much wiser and interested in Christianity. He is empathetic and non-judgmental and I find myself applying what I've learned in his book in my own life. For example Lewis writes about not judging complicated Christians because one needs to keep in mind how Christ blessed those who are poor in spirit. And one needs to stop judging because we all come from different paths and some suffer more than others. I learned so much.
"logical aproach to the human condition"
Great book from a great thinker...the first 2/3rds to 3/4th of the book are pure wonderful logic on the human condition reguardless of religious background. I enjoyed the whole book, but those not of the Christian persuasion would enjoy a significant portion of the book too. Great Read!
"Excellent reading by Geoffrey Howard"
Geoffrey Howard does an excellent job reading this great work by CS Lewis. He has a very pleasant sounding British accent not harsh like some. Mere Christianity is a must read for anyone.
"Thought Provoking"
C.S. Lewis presents many real world arguments for faithful belief in God and Jesus. I found myself thinking about his comments while listening and had to rewind many times. I now use many examples he used. This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad I took time to check it out.
"Fresh Ideas"
C.S. Lewis has great insight into Christianity and the pure intent of it. This book is full of insight, unique examples to describe complex and abstract ideas, and is, despite this, simple to understand. Whether curious about Christian ideas, or well-versed, this book can bring new insight.
"WOW"
20 years or so ago, I read "Mere Christianity" and found it to be quite a chore. Having the audio version cleared up all those sentences that I seemed not to comprehend (age?). Any way, any kind of "religion" READ THIS it is so much more than "christianity"
