While interesting to listen to and heart warming, this book presents the act of starting and running a business in a very simplistic and naive way. I am not saying that many very successful people do not have similar ways of running their businesses but there is nowhere in the book that gives the reality of the huge percentages of businesses that fail even when they do take all the book's lessons to heart.
My review comes from my experience of starting and running multiple successful and failed businesses. Reader beware. This book will only give you one side of the story.
It's not often that I read a book in novel form such as this and come away really thinking differently. I would put this book in the same category as "The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team" - but the story itself is really interesting in and of itself. The principles within are solidified through it - it has a parable-like impact. Great listen.
This book has taught me that all I need to be successful, and all people will every truly recognize me for and reward me for is by being myself, being genuine, and working with them, with their best interest always in mind, to accomplish their goals and get them what they want. So happy I stumbled upon this. I highly recommend.
I started out giving this book the "15 minute test" and before I realized it, I was halfway through the story. I am an avid fan of how-to books as well as fiction so putting the lessons in a story works very well for me.
The lessons contained in this book are easy to grasp and timeless. I see a lot of myself 20 years ago in the main character. I wish I had learned these lessons back then.
This is a book I will definitely listen to multiple times.
I will continue to read this book and play it in my car on the way to work! It changes my perception of EVERYTHING! I have bought a copy for my close friends and a copy to pass around to others. I have also continued to read the other books by these authors, however this one will always be my favorite.
I love animals. I volunteer for a cat rescue group several days a week. I am an attorney, but am semi-retired.
It seems like such practical, easy to understand advice. I hope I can incorporate it into my life. Great book!
Easy to listen to, relevant content, storyline flows well. Will be sharing this with my family and friends as I believe that living this concept is right up our alley for personal and business development and improvement.
If you have some self-awareness and have been thoughtful about your career, there is nothing new here. It is short, but moves slowly, and the advice is common sense bordering on trite.
Puzzlement. I can't understand how this book is so highly rated. I knew this stuff in high school.
