Should have been titled: overly dramatic super women in a world of bumbing men
I liked the story idea, but don't feel that it was very well thought out, or put together. Also, I found it very difficult to understand the characters. I felt that they were all over simplified and not very believable/realistic. As the book wore on, I found myself hoping that the killer would get to them all. This book came highly reccomended to me, but I can not pass that reccomendation along as I found it to be a fairly poor listen.
This was a nice little thriller with good characters. The plot was typical with the sadistic, deviant bad guy whose acts are bit too heinous to be believable. You won't be convinced this could actually happen, but it's an entertaining read.
This is a very good book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, if this is your first Gerritson book, I advise you read the surgeon and body double first, as these stories lend themselves to this story. I didn't do that and now wish I would have. Regrettably, I know the conclusions of those two books, and would have enjoyed listening to those 2 prior to this.
This book hooked me from the first sentence and kept me there until the end. Fast paced, suspenceful, and I didn't want it to end. I'm sure there must be a sequel in the near future because this story must go on!
This book would be much more entertaining with a male voice for the male characters. Slow to get started and seems tedious after listening to James Patterson's newest.
I really enjoyed this book, it is the third gerristen download that I have purchased. If you havent listened to her books before, I partiuclarly recommend 'vannishing' on audio book. buy and enjoy.
Queen of UTEE
Right from the get-go, this story grabs you.
Then -it keeps you in suspence till the very last sentence.
It is very well written and also well read. I liked the narrator. And, while the storyline was a "bit bizarre"...man..it really got you to thinking...hmmm...could it be possible?
This would make me want to read ALL of this authors books.
The narrator was a big disapointment but the story was great. The narrator did not have the ability to change her voice to play the various characters in the book. As a result, I fould myself rewinding much of the time to keep track of which character was speaking. A poor narrator can ruin and otherwise great book.
Tell us about yourself! I have always ben an avid reader, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be. The iPod and audible been a blessing.
I love Tess Garritsen's books. She never disappoints. I usually find myself amazed and impressed while listening to her stories. The Mephisto Club was no exception. Although it may seem like it's a little off the beaten path for this author-it grabs you hard from the beginning and holds you tight throughout. Watch out Dean & Stephen you have company in your playground. Although I like the stories with Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles the best, I will purchase any book by Tess Gerritsen knowing that I will be highly entertained.
I enjoyed the book, if you are looking for a book to help make your run or swim go by quickly this is a good choice. I have read, not listened, to other Tess Gerritsen books and they too are enjoyable, quick reads.
