I bought this book on sale and I am glad I did. It is a story about a rookie female FBI agent finding her self aiding an ex-undercover "cleaner" FBI agent and his his daughter who was kidnapped by a couple of zealous bomb makers who want revenge for the Waco debacle which killed the son. There are layers of cover ups that will hopefully disappear as soon as the ex-agent is eliminated.
The story is somewhat believable and fast paced. Dick Hill is one of my favorite narrators. Yes, I would recommend this book no matter if it's on sale or not.
Baby Boomer in Raleigh NC. Faves include James Lee Burke, CJ Box, Baldacci, Flynn, Child, DeMille, Crais, Connolly, Thor, Coes, L'amour. Average two books/week.
Fans of BobLee Swagger, Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp and Dewey Andreas - meet Edwin Kriess.... and Kriess is angry and on the hunt. Uh oh!
I became a Deutermann fan several months ago and went thru his 4-book Cam Richter series in several weeks. This one is a stand-alone but could be a series. I guess the term "formula plot" is supposed to be a negative but not for me. With the familiar voice of Dick Hill, I am in familiar territory with a rugged iconic "operative" who has run afoul of the bureaucrats..... sound familiar?
Some reviewers analyze books like they critique wine. Not me. I like the story - the characters - the narrator. If you like those characters I noted above, I think you will like Hunting Season too.
We would strongly recommend this book - my wife mentioned it the other day as one of her all-time favorites (that we listened to together). A fantastic story - and GREAT characters.
The plot was fantastic - the only flaw is that we always wished that this book would spark a series!
Dick Hill is THE BEST story-reader of ALL TIME. In many cases I have looked for books solely based on the fact that he was the performer.
Buy this book! Then email to author asking for more Kriess!
I read Deuterman's Cam Richter series and love them so I thought I would sample his other offerings. So glad I did. First rattle out of the barrel, the action and suspense starts. Vanished teens, creepy woods, spooky governmnet installation, good ol' mountain boy's, a dad that wont give up, FBI who is one tough lady. So what's not to like here. And Dick Hill... oh my, what a great performance!!!
Addicted to audio books, I average 6 to 7 per month. I am never without my IPod even when I sleep LOL! Favorite author Lisa Gardner
On the edge of my seat through out most of this fantastic book! Just how I like them. I will have to say P.T. Deutermann has become one of my new favorite authors. Of course Dick Hill's amazing talent, makes this book a 10!
This is a new author for me. I am already a Dick Hill fan. I was reasonably pleased with the book. I am a big Louise Penny, Lee Child fan and am looking for a new adventure
I discovered audio books when my required reading for my profession left me with no time to read for pleasure. Now every chore is a read.
Uber-hero seeks vengance
The sardonic humor of the protagonist
His delivery allows the story to flow naturally.
The improbable rescue by the "redneck militia".
A nice introduction to Deuterman. It is especially rewarding to discover he doesn't backtrack on his characters, positioning each for a sequel that never comes.
This book I enjoyed, but did drag a little at time, all the government accronyms at time was hard to follow. Did like the story line. Like the narrator too.
The Hunting Season is a great listen!!!! I cannot believe that I am just now discovering PT Deutermann. Tons of twists and it keeps you at the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. Plus, Dick Hill narrates the book and I think he is awesome!
The plot has so many twists and turns and it is totally gripping.
My favorite character performed by Dick Hill is Janet.
The book is over 17 hours long, and my husband and I listened to it to and from vacation. We were thrilled to get back in the car and finish the book.
I am looking forward to listening to other PT Deutermann books.
