Enjoyable but doesn't reach Jennifer Cruise's usually more provocative level of topics and writing. I listened to this book as I was doing my Christmas shopping and don't think I missed much.
Still, a good chick romantic novel.
I loved the story but the candy-coated, little-girl voice of the narrator really ruined this audiobook for me. She should not be attempting ANY make characters in any way, shape or form. From now on, I'll be certain to do a listening previe before purchasing and make a note to avoid Ellen's Stauffer!

I'll agree with previous reviewers that the male voices are off and not on-character. Clearly the narrator can do better voices (several of the secondary male characters are fine), but the main male voices are pip-squeaky and pubescent when they shouldn't be.
If you can get beyond that, this is a VERY light-hearted, laugh-out-loud romance. And it is a romance. Classic Crusie snark, a very little bit of mystery and a good dose of comedy make it a fun listen anyway in my opinion.
This would be a lite READ (3 starts as a read), as an audio book it is a PASS (1 star as audio). The narrator has such a whiney voice that she made the lead character come off as a junior high cheerleader wanna be. This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator and yep, same whiney voice comes across in both. To me an audio book should be a movie with words, not a constant ‘he said’ and ‘she said.’ Surely a narrator worth his/her salt could and should be able to make the characters different enough that the ‘he said/she said’ wouldn’t be necessary.
I really like it. Started slow, so much I almost turned it off and stopped. But, I'm so oc I couldn't. It picked up then I really liked it. Had alot of Jennifers normal humor, with the ok ok I cant wait moments. Ready for the next listen.
Though some have criticized the narrator's voice (unfairly?), as with many it takes a bit of time to get used to them. I have, and am enjoying the story line. It reminds me of the comical escapades of Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovich) novels. I just realized it's only 6 hours--I have 2 left--and I wish it would go on longer. I'll look forward to listening to more of Ms. Crusie's books--even with the same narrator.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this one; the author keeps you interested I tend to listen before falling asleep but this one kept me awake a little too late. Great story line with a little laugh out loud moments!
I read fiction. I particularly like mystery series. Also the Sookie Stackhouse series. Lee child, Baldacci and others of that ilk are at the top of my list. I'm a voracious listener and my ipod is plugged in 24/7. I listen to my favorite series during insomniac hours. My ipod is a life saver.
I have read and reread Jennifer's books and still chuckle at the sassy girls she creates. However, I think this reader is amateurish and detracts greatly from the charm of the material. Sadly, I will NOT have the loooooong awaited joy of listening to Welcome to Temptation, which just arrived on Audible.
