I would read another book by this author, but only if a friend recommended it. I was lukewarm about this one, but I've been assured that some of the other books in the series are better.
I figured out the "whodunit" fairly quickly and was mostly interested to find out if I was right. I was disappointed in the character development for the main character. Tough young woman in a man's world, crunchy exterior just begging for some tender-hearted rich guy to help her discover her softer side. I feel like I've read this all before...about a hundred times.
Overall I enjoyed Susan Ericksen's performance, but I found Eve Dallas' almost manly voice off-putting. Also, being from the south, the southern accents were ridiculously bad. But then again, they usually are.
The main character and how she solves crimes. I also like the futuristic technology.
Roarke seducing Eve.
when Roarke kept Dallas' button, it was liking seeing into the future.
Her many voices are so accurate to each character. she is amaizing. Roarke's voice is like melt in your mouth chocolate.
I liked her usual style of writing and suspense and look forward to reading more of her books.
This was my first listening to Susan Ericksen but I enjoyed her narration.
Fun to read!
It is not totally unpredictable. But still interesting.
Ms. Ericksen's performance was the best I have ever heard on an audio book! SUPERB!!!
No. But I found that I didn't want to stop listening. In fact, I just love Nora Robert's writing style. It is so eloquent and so much fun to read!
I might if i had the time or ran out of other books to listen to.
just fine the way it was.
I enjoyed this book but I'm not sure why it's necessary for the series to be set in the future. It would have worked the same being set in the present. The narration is good but I found the Irish accent jarring - it isn't very authentic.
The narrator is excellent! The story is good and moves along quickly. My own personal opinion is that I really do not understand how bitchy, mistrusting women get such good men. The main character in this novel isn't very nice, at all. She is suspicious of everyone, hard and mean spirited. I'm not saying that one has to be syrupy and sweet.... Oh alright, this is fiction but still I didn't like the character. However, I must say the story is really good and worth listening to. Perhaps in time, I'll download the series and see what happens.
Susan Erickson is one of the best narrators of all the books I have listen to - on a par with Davina Porter, and I could listen to anything she narrates. In partnership with J. D. Robb, it is an unbeatable team. This is a series that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys mystery, cop stories, or great narration.
Tell us about yourself! I have always ben an avid reader, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be. The iPod and audible been a blessing.
It's certainly in the top 3, but that's based on different formats.
When Roark walked out of Eve's apartment and she finally saw the light. Some people just fit, you know, regardless of wealth, race religion or what went on in their past. I am a true believer of love at first sight and have 48 years to back it up.
she has all the characters down perfectly. I never have to rewind to see who was speaking.
Yes, when Gallahad saved Eve from being attacked.
I have by now read 35 of the JD Robb In Death books. She can't write them fast enough for me. I have actually read some of them over again. One other thing. I'm not a big fan of short stories. I think there are 10 or 11 in this series. It would be great if they could be combined into to regular length books.Still leave them as short stories but put them all into two vehicles and price them as she does the full length stories. Just a thought :)
