This book is for you if you are a small business owner or someone thinking about starting a small business.
This book almost got five stars. Had it not been so damned repetitive it would have been perfection. Gerber bases the story on the charecter of Sarah who is inspiring at first, but then digresses into repeating the already thorough explanation every 20 minutes.
Anybody who works in a skilled trade and wants to know how to be a good business man, should read this before starting the process. It is invaluable.
Although the stories and examples seem contrived, there are some good nuggets in here. Most importantly, it forces you to think about the difficult questions that most small business owners are faced with. I am tempted to buy the book and give it to a local mom-and-pop restaurant that I just found. I like the food, but the service and experience is brutal... they could really benefit from this book.
I would recommend this book especially to small business owners. When I was growing up my parents ran a business and they made many of the same mistakes that are outlined in this book. The author is correct in that you have to spend a significant amount of time working on your business and not just in it. He provides some good guidance on how to accomplish this task.
This book is an absolute must read for anyone thinking about starting a business or has started a small business. It's exceptionally well written in a student/teacher story line that does not get in the way of the lessons of the book but compels you to read on to see how things end up.
This book was an eye-opener for me. It showed me a new way of thinking about starting a business - a way that nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit. It's interesting, fun, inspiring and just packed with new ways of thinking and ideas for moving forward. This book encourages you to think big.
This book is excellent, the point is to grasp the concepts outlined. If you don't care for the rhetoric and storyline that is added for interest then see through it to the methodical processes that Gerber eloquently describes throughout this book. This is the kind of book that should be listened to while paying careful attention to the details discussed and taking notes, use these concepts and you will be successful!
This book is a combination of entrepreneurship insights with business creation processes. The narration is very good and keeps the listener entertained. Also it suggests that if the business is built in a given way, it cannot fail, showing traps to avoid when building a new business. Very insightful and nice to listen to.
This is a must have for every business owner or wanna be business owner this is a business life changing book
I read and more
Man i don't tend to leave reviews. I have to say there's way to much hype over this book. I just finished read/listening to this and yeah save you money and get "escape from a cubical nation.
This book is really just selling the services from their website.
In one word: WOW. This book is a MUST for anyone considering running a business or those who have done so wish to see the system from 'outside', and become tenfold more successful. Sometimes a bit too poetic, but gets the point through with it with fantastic ideas, structures and hints. Excellent piece!
