I have listened to all the books so far and cannot stop. I am hand sewing and listening, I have nearly finished a quilt, just working and listening, than you Diana and Davina
I love Epic Fantasy....have become a Historical Romance fan because I am a sucker for a good Happily Ever After. Good characters are a must
I didn't love the way this book started. Sometimes there's too much of Lord John Gray. I don't mind him as a minor character but he plays a larger role in this book....one that will make you SCREAM at Mrs. Gabaldon.
There is just too much of William thrown in all of a sudden. I understand that his character would eventually and should be part of the overall story but we didn't really get to care and then here he is...lots of him. His character is pretty important to Jamie but we only see him as a little bitty boy a few chapters as a juvenile and then all of a sudden it's like major parts of this book are nothing but William. It was almost like she knew she had to cram all of William into one book. I was just totally turned off by the amount of William in most of the book.....and then in true DG style she roped me into caring for him!
Everything just seemed so rushed. I mean everything that happens 3/4 of the way through just happens so quick without much build up or description. It's like the Cliff's notes instead of Diana's usual writing. I kept thinking..."wait what about this....how did this unfold...how did he/she react" but instead we were just told....the next day is here & everything moves on.
But it is still integral and still DG writing..if not her best (again it just felt rushed) it is still wonderful.
Will you want to tear your hair out...yes...cry..yes...get pissed...yes...it is still Outlander!
SPOILER: Slow start, crazy ending. Highly unbelievable ending actually, and if Diana want us to buy it- the whole story just fell apart from the beginning. Of course, it's fiction and fairytale, but after all- it's supposed to be a great love story. Suddenly Jamie "dies", Claire (60 years old) marry a homosexual friend, jump in bed with him- and hardly pay a thought of her beloved and lost husband. OMG. Davina Porter's performance is as always excellent.
Love historical romance, I drive for a living an it helps the time go bye
She is the Best I own her entire series in hard copy as well as her audiobooks. I highly recommend these books. Excellent. Thank you for your talent an sharing it with us.
Your Fan. 🌹
I'm going to be so sad went I finally listen to the last book in this series. I am a huge fan of historical fiction, and will most likely have to listen to all of the books again. The narration is superb.
Thank you Diana Gabaldon and especially Davina Porter
