I've watched the O'Reilly Factor with passing interest in the host, who occasionally seems to be as tough on the right wing as on the left. So, I thought I'd give this book a try. All I can say is that was the most narcissistic piece of garbage I've ever heard (read). He obviously has a great opinion of himself-- too bad I can't share the same opinion about his autobiography. I really was expecting to find this book interesting-- I was greatly disappointed. Even if you're a die-hard conservative, trust me, don't waste your time on this one. Get Going Rogue instead.
I am what Bill O'Reilly would call a liberal. Thre is many things I don't agree with him, specially his recent treatment of the slain dr. Tiller. But I gave him a try knowing the intent behind this book was to explain how he forge his believe systems from experiences from his youth. I believe he was the most honest he could be, and even if I will continue to disagree with him on a lots of ways he approach things, I must say this book reinforce the respect I have for him. He stands for what he believes. I would never expect that between the lines you can understand he was such a womanizer. He his an experience narrator and his way of reading his really greats. In fact he doesn't read, he tells the story. That is much nicer. If you have a monthly credit to spent, I would not hesitate to recommend it. maybe you will not like his attitude all the way all the time, but you will surly have a new respect for the honesty of the man.
This is primarily recollections, only lightly touching on controversial issues of today. It is light and fun and very entertainingly read by the author. Worth your time and money if you enjoy the "bold fresh" gentleman.
O'Reilly on O'Reilly...can't imagine this audiobook being read by anyone but the "no-spin" guy. An incredibly humorous inside look at how Bill O'Reilly's childhood helped to form his opinions and values. He is definitely one of us and I am glad that he is "looking out for me"!
I listened to this entire book on a roadtrip from San Antonio to Maryland, and I must say that Bill O'Reilly has earned one more fan. From growing up on Long Island, to studying abroad in Europe, to working on the Factor, O'Reilly has had an incredible life. Do yourself a favor, and listen to this book...then make your kids listen to it when they become teenagers.
Well written, well read. I laughed, I sighed, and I've recommended this book to those I like as well as to those I don't - why not? Right, Bill?
This great autobiography/political/comedic audiobook draws you in by the great story and voice over by Bill O'Reilly himself and betwixt comedic stories of him and his classmates when he was young and his later rise to fame this is an overall satisfying book that kept me enthralled throughout the entire span of its life.
